I just read somewhere that Sprint doesn't think that not having enough of the EVOs will not affect them in sales. I have been waiting since May 24 and I still haven't gotten my phone. I don't know about you but it does make me want to switch to the new iPhone because I am sure they will have enough to meet almost any demand. I find it amazing that a huge chain like Best Buy only receives about 2 phones a week or less! I will wait but it does have me thinking about how arrogant Sprint is in making such a bold statement. They may be right but we, the ones still waiting to get their EVOs, do not want to hear such things. I want a phone call stating that my phone is ready to be picked up. I got the poor sales girl very nervous about this situation and it's really not her fault.

I believe Best Buy began the pre-orders around May 12th so the poster could be correct about 5/24.

As for the OP: I don't think that is on Sprint, but on Best Buy to not pressure HTC for more shipments.

Why are you being such a baby?

The iphone was sold out for weeks if not months on launch.

How about the arrogance of OP that he deserves his phone when he wants it.

Tough to wait on something that's not available so that doesn't fly.

And no one forced the op to buy from Best Buy so the anger is a bit misplaced. Could always pick it up now elsewhere.

I agree, the onus is on Best Buy for this problem. I ordered mine directly from Sprint late on Wednesday night 6/9, and I got mine on Friday, 6/11.

Nont even trying to mock any one...but why would you even want to get a new iPhone just cause you cant wait a lil longer for the EVO??

Sounds like you'd rather settle with being in second place.

I called a Sprint store here in the Atlanta area, put my name on a list, they called me the next day and had two on hold for me.

I think this is the issue as well. I've been on the pre-order list from Best Buy since 6/2 and they've missed both promised delivery dates.

As for hurting sales, I'm one that's starting to waffle on whether I want to keep waiting for this phone or go with something else.

Sprint can be arrogant because the phone is all that and a bag of chips. Of course there will be plenty of iPhone 4 available as the EVO is far superior to it.

I walked into walmart on 6/6 and they had three in stock. I went back later in the week to have it replaced and they still had the other two.

The EVO is far superior? Ok, lets not get out of hand here.

Anyway, I'm gonna have to side with the OP. Sprint has been bleeding customers for years and the one time they get an awesome phone, they are gloating around like they are the best network in the country. They need to wake up and realize they aren't, fix the EVO quality issues, actually have them in stock, and maybe not milk the EVO for all its worth by charging premium data that is going to be throttled anyway.

If they want new subscribers, they need to be able to handle a large influx of customers. Its just like everything else, if a customer can't get what they want, then they'll look elsewhere.

If the op REALLY wanted it that bad, he should've gone to the Sprint store nice & early like I did on launch day. Then instead of bitching about them being sold out, he could be playing with this awesome phone just like me. Go get the iPhone, there will be one waiting for you, just make sure you get there early.

I ordered my phone from Sprint late in the evening on 6/4 and was told via a callback on 6/7 that Evo sold out before my order processed and that I'd get it within a week. Then I got it arrived in the mail via overnight shipping on 6/9. When I called upon receiving, Sprint said it's online site and Sprint stores should be able to keep up with demand. Haven't called back, but I've gone to Sprint stores and they do have them in stock. The Shack retail locations near me also have them.

Looks like availability is more of a geographic issue.

I guess it just depends on where you live as to whether you get it in a speedy fashion. I live in the midwest and pre ordered mine from BB and had it exactly when they said I would get it. I forget exactly when the pre order date was, but they promised it to me on 6/5 and that's when I got it. My local BB had hundreds of orders, not just a couple. It was standing room only inside that store (in the mobile phone section I mean). That was just the original pre order too. They've ordered hundreds more (in my area anyway).

Why limit your hopes to get an Evo on Best Buy alone? Go to Radio Shack, Sprint Store. Call Best Buy, Radio Shack and Sprint stores in your area, there's bound to be more than just one. Surf the web, go to eBay, wirefly, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Sprint Store. The more avenues you've tried you can get lucky with one.

Oh, and if you decided to go with an iPhone, don't get your hopes up on getting one sooner. If you can't get an Evo with multiple ways of acquiring it, I'm sure you'll be hard pressed on getting an iPhone with just one or two options to purchase from. :)

Okay, but I've been reading about this phone for months, so I guess I've been waiting since the beginning of the year :/

Its really funny how I was thinking about not buying the EVO and took my sweet time after it launched and then figured out a couple days later that I wanted it. So I went online and ordered it and got it literally the next day with no problem at all. =D

Actually, everyone is out of them. There are none to be had. You have to wait on someones list to get one.

Where do you live? I pre-ordered my Evo well after that at BB and received it on launch day. Well, after waiting around for 4 or 5 hours since the Sprint activation network was down :)

Not true. Had both Sprint and BB sales reps try to sell me one yesterday while I was looking at accessories. They didn't even notice the Evo sitting in my Seidio on my hip. The RS person told me if I wanted one I'd pretty much have to walk out the store with it though because anyone that looks at it and compares it to other phones just get the Evo.

Again, some locations may have them while others may not. I was in CT last week, and they'd already accounted for every phone they thought they'd be able to get through the end of June - that's crazy. I told a guy looking there to buy it via Sprint online.

Well make sure you try both phones before you make a rash decision. Switching to iPhone cuz you don't wanna wait any longer is a bad decision IMO. Besides, is it just me, or is the only main diff between iPhone 4 and the older iPhone is a front cam and 1ghz a4 processor? Other than that its the same phone right? All the other features aren't worth mentioning.

If you get it from BB, you will wait awhile. It took me a Week to get mine, and i was told i would get it in the 2nd shipment. I could have gone to the Sprint store and got one right away, but i didn't want to do the whole rebate thing. If you don't mind the rebate, go to the Sprint store and get it. They should have alot of them in stock, BB will be depleted for a week or two more id think.
