I dunno where I read this, you can contact samsung, and supposedly once samsung gets your original 2gb sd card, they mail you a new one with the movie on it.

the movie is drm protected, and only plays on the vibrant.

For all new Vibrant owners, back up your avatar.dcf file, so you don't find yourself in this predicament.

Why does everyone want it? For the movie itself, or because it might cause issues?

I deleted it asap, and my vibrant runs just fine.

    Why does everyone want it?

    Reasons:
    1) Came with the phone
    2) Someone might truely want to watch the movie
    3) Shows off the gorgeous Super Amoled Display
    4) Highest cash cow film of all time
    5) Never caused any issues I've heard of.

    So Cal
Take your phone with SD card to your nearby Tmobile store, explain what happened, politely ask a rep to please reload the movie. It works. ;)

i was just checking--not trying to be rude. I hate bloatware and never did like the movie. I have read several things suggesting the phone needed the movie as part of some background script...but this was not the case for me.

Can you just download the movie and upload straight to the SD?

Strange, I guess it depends on the rep, someone else tried that suggestion and it worked just fine. They certainly can do something if they want to...

    Yeah it was me...
A rep a tmo went out back of the store and returned with a new Vibrant. He pulled the sd card, installed on mine, copied it, and away I went.

    So, yes, it IS possible.

    How to be a " Customer* " 101:

Print a copy of the post above mine, highlighting the part where it is stated that the rep went in the back and got a new vibrant, and just copied the sdcard over. Go in and request the rep in the store do the same. If they don't, make it glaringly obvious that you are writing down their name, ask for their manager's name, and then got on the phone with Tmobile Customer Care while standing in the store in front of the rep. Ask the phone rep to intervene and explain that you are only looking for a simple customer service request, that involves no loss on T-mobile's part of materials or resources other than taking the time to resolve your problem. If the the phone rep is also non-cooperative, ask to speak with their supervisor, and tell them you will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau that you will not be renewing your contract with them, and further want them to cancel all extra features and reduce the contract down to the minimum level of service is with the most simplified, least expensive plan. Then ask for their corporate mailing address, and ask to be escalated to their boss.

To be honest, I would be very surprised if you managed to get even halfway through what I just typed before they take care of it. If you do get all the way through it, go to a different store and repeat the process. lol

*If you have ever worked retail, you will understand the many alternate definitions of this word, which I will not go into but which could be summarized as being on the intellectual level of and/or related to /b/.

I'm sure some reps get busy, crabby, etc...However, your business is TOP priority to them. Or it should be anyway. The young man that helped me was GLAD to assist a TMo customer, and did it with a smile. I actually mailed that store's manager and told them that this rep was a credit to the T-Mobile team, and his willingness to satisfy customers is why I'll be renewing my contract.

That's very kind of you! I'm sure lots of folks will appreciate that.
Now, let's see how long it takes for someone to piss on this parade with: PIRACY AND SHARING IS NOT ALLOWED!

Yeah, though it doesn't qualify for piracy or illegal sharing.

You paid for viewing rights with the phone--the phone is sold with it--thus no piracy/copyright/trademark/sharing activity is illegal. If you uploaded it to your computer and tried to BT it, burn it, etc. then yes, you are violating the law.

    I didn't think it did...
There's just been so many users who have accidentally deleted the movie via "select all" in camcorder. That's how I did it.

"... no piracy.... sharing is illegal?" Dude, "piracy" by it's very definition is illegal. So is unlicensed distribution whether for profit or not for profit.

It is not illegal to make a back up copy for personal use.

Ugh, I just got my phone and formatted my SD card and lost the file. Can anyone PM me the file? I'd be grateful... mostly because I never saw the movie...
