HTC Nexus One blessed by the FCC with T-Mobile and AT&T 3G data -- Engadget

looks like tmobile wins. doesnt mean there wont be a CDMA passing through soon or in the future, i think. for now GSM people rejoice XD

edit: in the comment section from the article there seems to be some discussions on the 3g frequencies listed. some are claiming that engadget read it wrong and that it only supports tmobile 3g bands. Maybe someone with more knowledge on carrier 3g frequencies can solve this.

edit 2: yup looks like engadget updated the article, NO 3G FOR ATT. so tmobile wins :)

What if Verizon is using the few android phone's they have now as a test of there network not wanting a iphone repeat.

This doesnt prove much other than it is coming to TMobile. Doesnt mean a CDMA version is going to go through the FCC tomorrow

Ha, and I literally just left AT&T for Verizon 2 weeks ago. I have a Droid now (and had the Eris previously), but I much prefer phones without physical keyboards that aren't slow.

    Hmm... what to do now?

Well that's it for me. I'm going to have to play with both Droid and Eris but I think I'm going to go with the Eris. It seems fine for me and while it is not the freight train of power in Android phones, I'm sure it's faster and more appealing than my crappy Q. I really want a break from Motorola for a while.

I'm assuming this Nexus One is going to be unsubsidized, so how much are we looking at it costing? $600? And what's the deal now with the Bravo? Before news of the Nexus One, people were saying the Bravo would be released in early 2010...is it coming to Verizon in April? My initial thoughts are that I slightly prefer the looks of the Bravo.

My guess is this. The first picture we saw a few months ago was the Passion, aka google phone, aka nexus one. The second phone we saw last week that looked totally different was in fact the HTC Bravo. My guess is that these are infact two totally different phones. We heard that the Bravo was coming to the States in January and Tmobile Europe in April. There was obviously confusion about who in the US would be getting the phone in January since both Verizon and TMoble - USA people had heard they were getting a new high end device made by HTC. While TMoble people assumed last week that the Bravo was going to be theirs, the truth is the high end device they had been hearing about was the Google Phone. The HTC Bravo will in fact be coming to Verizon. This would also help us to understand why Verizon would pass on the Google Phone (rumors are that Google came to them first). Why bother having to deal with Google directly in an Apple like relationship when you already have practically the same phone coming with Sense UI in just a slightly different form factor.

But I have nothing to back this up with, this is just the only thing that makes sense to me.

Spot on. I'd personally rather have the Nexus One though. I much prefer the look compared to the Bravo.

    Still both look great though.

I don't like this back and forth BS. I don't understand why a company, by now, wouldn't make an official statement to clear things up. This "Whole" thing is getting rather ridiculous!

As far is this phone goes, it seems pretty set in stone. It belongs to tmobile. there might be another version later on for CDMA or ATT users, but not now. No proof it'll ever go anywhere else though, so dont hold your breath.

There's only one problem. The unlockr picture is still branded HTC. The Nexus is not. That's proof that there's another version out there that may have very well pre-dated the Nexus. Still seems to me that the Nexus is Google's personal branded version of the Passion. Guess we'll find out tomorrow, if Google is truly giving this phone a proper intro.

the unlockr pictures could have been from before a proto type and had been revised for the nexus one i think they are the same phone regardless of the brand which kind of sucks cuz i wanted this phone. there really hasnt been any confirmation that verizon is getting a version of this phone just he said she said that my friends grandma knows a lady from knitting class whos son said that there was a snapdragon phone coming to verizon which he read on some wishfull blog. my thoughts although i wish verizon does get a equal phone

There really isnt even proof its going to Tmobile. Could just be a dev phone that works on tmobile but wont ever be sold to the general public.

Technically the public can get the other two dev phones. You just register as a developer on marketplace for a small fee and then you can order it. Anyone else think its interesting that Tmobile is also the only supporter of the Dev phone 1 and 2?

There is no solid proof that consumers are getting it, but all the rumors suggest that we will :). they are just rumors, but some rumors come true ;) it is strange that a developer phone would have tmobile only 3g band frequencies. I think its more likely that this phone is coming to the masses (well tmobile masses anyway :p). i dont know if this is a "google" phone or just another HTC device or whatever. what i am excited about is that tmobile FINALLY gets a decent android device. G1? mytouch? Cliq? behold 2? all horribly spec'd phones.
