    7.6%
  2. Make a CyanogenMod based "remix" ROM

    41.5%
  3. Make an AOSP based ROM of our own

    19.5%
  4. Continue development on stock ROM base

    31.4%

CyanogenMod and other AOSP source built ROMs are nearly among us. I am on the fence about the future of Velocity.. please cast your vote in the poll above and share your thoughts below. We'll make a final decision very soon. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. :)

I don't really understand the differences, being that I've started and stayed on the Ally for my Android experience. Maybe because of that, I feel that we should let Velocity continue as it is, and maybe become like the others, well known and ported eagerly.

Vote #2 for AOSP rom, reason being is it can easily be dev'd to the next Android version release, or am I wrong?

I am not a newb but I am not sure why one might want to choose cyanogen or aosp over velocity.

    what are the functional differences

I guess the advantage of aosp and cyan over velocity would be a large dev community, but the ally branch would still need to be maintained by someone ( velocity team for now maybe)

I think the development of Velocity should should continue on a stock ROM base at least until CyanogenMod is stable and Ally is included in nightly builds and then, maybe make a CyanogenMod based OR AOSP Velocity? I really like the scripts and some other features of Velocity. I would like to see it continued in some form.

The Ally probably won't be officially supported by Team Douche.. it will likely be up to our development community to maintain the Ally distribution.

Does the Thunder Bolt have GetItNowMarketings Recovery Backup system?
When the Day comes I am leaning toward ThunderBolt because you guys (Developers) seem to own that Phone. Is it better than The Revolution?

me too.... continue velocity based on the stock. there have been issues with this phone and other apps, like cyanogen's messaging app and such... i just feel more comfortable with this cheap low-end phone using a stock base.

I vote in with the new, I absolutely love velocity, but i think the velocity team could do more with the cyanogenmod base given that it is at stable point. I dont think there is anything you can do now that you couldnt with aosp, gingerbread.

Hm, tough call. I guess do the remix thing because you could still include a lot of improvements while not re-doing a lot of the bulk work of getting an AOSP build going...

As long as I still see "Velocity" on the ROM I'll be happy, be it AOSP or CM or stock based.

I think velocity should be made for the Droid X! I loved velocity on my Ally, but since moving to the Droid x I have not been able to find a rom for it that even comes close to velocity. Lol I know it won't happen, but I just wanted to say thanks for making my Ally so awesome while I had it!

Cynogenmod is a fully custimizable rom/build. I'm running cm7 and it works wonders and I'm anxious to see what themed rom's would be made for this

I think velocity as it is now is way more functional and better than any aosp or cyanogen rom out there. I for one would definatly recommend the velocity team to stay with velocity unless they can make a fully functional rom with hardly any failures. Also velocity supports full camera keyboard and data connection right out of the box without the need to tinker with settings. Id say if you can make velocity better then go for it

+1. I think everything you guys have accomplished up until now is amazing. I'm always someone looking for more however. Development of Velocity has slowed over time as the limits of the Ally have gotten closer. An aosp built rom would let us push on toward the future, and I can't even imagine the possibilities that await.

Velocity has made a huge difference in the performance of my phone. Many thanks to the team.

As for the future, what do the others offer that V. doesn't? I'm for whatever is stable and fast. Without those, all other features are useless.

Remix it, I wouldn't mind running cm7 on my ally.

I use my ally as an alarm clock right now, but with cm7/velocity remix on board i'd probably start using it as a super mini tablet.

id say work on AOSP velocity... its how the Ally got popular and cm7 is great... but having a choice and/or competition between devs is good

btw thanks to all the ally devs, i was bummed in my 2-year contract with my stock ally, then i rooted and i couldnt be happier. a free phone thats faster than my friends 150 dollar phone? bragging rights, and its all because of the devs. thanks guys

For what its worth, I think any of the options are good ones except letting Cyanmod take over. Probably a dumb question, but would a cyano based remix rom be 2.3 based? The velocity scripts are killer and to loose those would be a step backwards in my opinon. Between GNM, Trident, D2All, Sav. I think all of you are more than capable of producing amazing work whether individually or as collaboration, as evidenced by Velocity and Frunisher! Whatever you Dev's think is best is fine by me as you all know possess an immense amount of knowledge when it comes to this.(LOL@ D2All-I like the Ballmer Peak)

I trust you guys to make the best decision for the good of the Ally community, but I strongly think you should continue to develop Velocity on the stock ROM. Weren't there hardware support issues with AOSP?
