I was a Play Store preorder while the Day 1 Keynote was still ongoing, so I'm jealous but totally happy and excited for you--

I'm glad there is no negativity here in this thread; my thought is that if the Play store is delayed, that's the luck of the draw and I took the risk in jumping in ASAP.

Hi. I just received mine as well. I love it so far. If I find myself using this more, then my wife will get my iPad 3 and I'll sell her iPad 2.

question - how do you download the free movie (dark side of the moon)? I've not been able to figure (or google) the solution out.

    Thanks!

I was curious about if you would get the new transformer movie? I know you get the 25$ store credit but I didn't see any mention of retailers getting the movie as well?

I'm jealous and happy for you-- but also upset about what Google did to their Play store buyers >< . Will never purchase anything HARD from their store DIRECTLY anymore.

I just called my local GameStop and they are releasing the Nexus 7 orders to those who have done their pre-order prior to today. Still waiting to see from the money coordinator (read: spouse) if this is an acceptable purchase.

Oh, to be single and be able to just go get one.....

A bit of googling results in confirmation of the movie.

I knew I should have preordered from Gamestop. Just called them and the only ones they have in stock are the ones that were preordered. I'm pissed at Google.

Sam's Club here as well. Had to buy the membership but I'll find a use for it as well. Love it and now I think I'll return my new SG3.

This makes me a little ill that I pre order from the company itself and people are getting it from a third party first! Not mad at you guys. Hope you enjoy it as much as I know I will! Just don't like the way this whole release was handled.

After putting it through it's paces a bit I can safely say that I'm very pleased with the Nexus 7. I'm a bit of a tech geek so I've been heavily invested in both the Android and the iOS ecosystems. What I really love about this tablet so far is the form factor is amazing. Super light and perfect for one hand use. One thing that I knew would be a plus but has become super apparent is the ability to have widgets on the tablet. That customized experince is truly something you can only get on android. I've only run into a few apps so far that have not been tablet optimized.

I felt the same way with reading a lot of blogger crap so I'm glad I can give you guys regular user answers. Sorry for the delayed response but no sooner did I get this thing home and our city lost power. :dong: It's kinda funny though because it gave me a good chance to see how much I can do without it being connected to wifi.

So to answer some of your questions:
-The screen brightness is excellent IF you take off auto-brightness. If you keep it on it still looks good, just a tab bit bland. Honestly the quality of this display is excellent. Because of the smaller display it looks marginally BETTER then my iPad 2 did.
-I tested for the ghosting your mentioning and I didn't seem to have any appear. One easy test was to use the Google Now mic which is pretty white/bright and then send it to the dark homescreen. Not much ghosting at all.

Just go to the "Google movie/tv show" app icon at the bottom of the display and it should be ready to play immediately.

My first impression is that I like it. The screen is not impressive IMO. I didn't find it to be bright at all compared to the Transformer Prime. I'm not sure how well it will show up in bright light, but then I've not seen many screens that did so I'm not going to hold it against the device.

Colors on the screen don't look good. Whites look white which is good compared to the Prime where whites looked yellowish, but reds look washed out and unimpressive IMO. The device seems responsive enough. I need to find a cover/case for it. The Kindle Fire I was using has a nicer looking screen I think.
