The internet on my Desire has stopped completely. Any suggestions?

    Good morning all.

    For some reason the internet on my Desire (T-Mobile, un-rooted, in the UK) no longer works, WiFi is absolutely fine but when using just the mobile network I get nothing. Under the settings it says that it is connected but next to the H in the status bar only the upward arrow flashes every 2 seconds but the downward arrow never lights up (As far as my technical mind stretches, that means that the phone is uploading data but is not downloading any data).

    I have tried switching the phone on and off, disconnecting and reconnecting the mobile network and re-adding the APN settings but nothing has worked. It has been like this for 24 hours now.

    Has anyone got any further suggestions that I can try?

    Have you tried clearing the cache?

    Is this in one place or everywhere?

    I get similar when I hit a small network black spot.

    Are you talking about the browser cache? If so then that is clear. It isn't just the browser that is affected, it's everything that uses the internet to connect, Market, Apps, Browser etc.

    Hi Dan. I've been at both home and at work and the situation hasn't changed so I don't think it is a black spot, or if it is then it's a big black spot hehe.

    Yeah thats doubtful. Worth speaking to the network anyway, incase there is something else....

    sounds like network is funked up for you.
    either theyve borked a change on the system for you (HLR)
    or the route you are going to (SGSN) is down

    I get this problem when connecting to my girlfriends dodgy router via WiFi.

    Try disabling WiFi completely and browsing again.

    Hi Ian, whenever I am not at home I do not have WiFi switched on. So while i'm sitting here at work with just the Mobile Network switched on I still can't use anything that uses an Internet connection.

    I'm going to call T-Mobile after work and see if they can do anything their end.

    You have the tick taken out of Wi-Fi? I'm just curious as even when my WiFi is turned on but not connected to any wifi router it still mucks up my APN.

    Just an idea, T-mobile will probably get you to go into you APN settings and just reset em to default :p

    Tye, are you on virgin media?

    I am, and the network has been down since yesterday. I'm having the same problem

    WiFi is definitely switched off. I have deleted all the APN settings and re-added them, no luck.

    Hi Nofear, I'm on T-Mobile UK but I did notice someone else started a thread with the same problem and s/he is on Vodafone so it seems quite strange.
