I have a glove for it, but a lot of times I get sick of the soft keys being unresponsive and hard to reach, so I take it off (big improvement), but then the phone feels like it's going to fall out of my hand. I just can't seem to have a safe grip on it. It's too skinny and the material doesn't stick to my hand the way plastic or rubber does. But the soft keys are now so easy to press.

perhaps keeping a skin on it or something like that to get more grip would be good?

One of the reasons I had to get the body glove - it was to slick. This case is perfect for my needs and I do not need another but..... hopefully the otterbox wont add to much bulk with the added protection. I look forward to it.

Try a silicone case for it

I had the same first impression. Tried the body glove, didn't care for the bulk. Tried a Phantomskinz kit, but it kept peeling away from the corners. I've been naked for weeks now and I've adapted. I don't even think about it slipping anymore.

The body glove one is very nice too. The perfect ballance of grip, comfort and texture without a lot of bulk.

Title of this thread? "The phone is too damn slippery"

You want slippery? Ought to try holding onto my iPhone 4... Yikes!

Makes my Captivate seem downright secure and very easy to hold... :)

(to the OP... not being critical, just injecting some humor, at Apple's expense.. Oh how I love to do THAT )

I mainly had an issue with picking up my phone. I like to put it on the table with the screen facing down, so nothing can accidentally hit it. But then the Captivate is REALLY hard to pick up!
Might be the main reason I am using a case actually... :)

Body glove case has good grip and doesn't cover any of the bottom buttons

The body glove is the one they have at at&t?

The body glove one is sold in AT&T stores. If you haven't tried that one you should check it out. Heck if you don't like it you have 30 days to return it. I have no problems with the soft keys with this case. As a matter of fact I tend to hit them accidently.

I find silicone to be too sticky and be a dust magnet. The Body Glove case is a good compromise between rubbery protection and hand-feel.

That's exactly the problem I have with silicone protectors, they're sort of "gummy" (and a little too "grabby" in a pocket) and the lint problem makes me _crazy_.

That's one reason I gravitated towards the Seidio case - from their website (note the underlined):

  18. Same here with my Fascinate. Coming from the Eris, which was considerably smaller, this device's smooth surface was one of the things I was mulling over as I compared it with the Droid X in the store.

The X lost due to a few other reasons, plus, as you say, adapting to it is easy, especially with only the volume rocker and the power key (not obtrusive or easily activated by accident) to avoid when picking up or handling.

I also use the Body Glove and it works for me. BB also has them.
