So is it ok to pay $200 and get stuck on a 2 year contract paying about 100 a month let's do the math :D

All the reviews say it has better battery life than the iPhone 4/4s. My friends T-Mobile version I played with lasts pretty much all day with a bit of use and charges back up pretty quick. There are also extended batteries available.

The international version of the Galaxy S3 is a quad-core but only has 1GB of RAM, it benchmarks pretty much the same as the US versions which are dual-core with 2GB RAM.

This dawned on me while laying in bed last night.

Why are the data speeds double than any other phone right now? The phone doesn't determine data speed, the network does. So how does this have 9mbps of data when the max is generally 5 mbps?

Most likely it's the area where you are in at the moment. In my condo I get 4mbps to 5 mbps. But I have reach 7 mbps and above around the area of ORMC in Orange Ave. In Orlando. That's like 4.5 miles from where I leave. So my guess is location, how far are we from the towers.

While I dont doubt you got 7mbps, metro's network is operating at up to 5Mhz. The average MAX speed is going to be around 5 Mbps. Inside the city of Atanta the fastest speeds you can get are 5Mbps. Sure there may be a fluke here and there.

Point is, the phone doesn't determine the speed. BUT metro has said that they plan to use the full range 10Mhz by the end of the year which WOULD produce the speeds that are being said in that article.

If you were to get an S3 right now, I'm willing to bet your data speeds aren't going to change until metro changes the network.

This is what I posted in a Metro PCS thread. This better explains it.

Metro primarily is using its existing AWS (1.7/2.1 GHz) and PCS (1.9 GHz) spectrum. That required to MetroPCS to split capacity between CDMA and LTE, resulting in slower LTE speeds. The average download speed reported was around 1000 kbps, or 1mbps, outside major cities with approximately 200 milliseconds of latency. MetroPCS has 1.4 MHz, 3 MHz and 5 MHz downlink carriers, though most of its markets utilize a full 5 MHz-by-5 MHz carrier where new AWS spectrum is available. So being that the main actual 4g speeds I've seen have been 1.3, 3.2 and 5.0mb, i would say we can assume that 10mhz will translate into a MAXIMUM of 10 mb. Generally the fastest speeds right now, 5mb on average, is generally achieved closer to the major city which for me is Atlanta while as you get further out, it obviously drops down. I'm 10 miles south of Atlanta and i get 1.3 consistently. With that said i will not see 10mb unless I'm in Atlanta but i should at least just break the 5mb mark.

Yes mhz and mb are two different things as i never stated otherwise. But going off of the data, is safe to assume that we will see a max of around 10mb. Will everyone get 10 mb? No. Does everyone get 5 mb now? No. Only the lucky ones.

I hear you point Fuzzy. I know the speed is on the network and not the phone. I'll try to run some speed tests whenever I'm in the area again to see what speed I get.

    Supposedly New York gets 7mb.

But I'm sure people get some good speeds out there, but saying the s3 gets 9mb and saying it's because of the phone is bogus. Didn't dawn on me until last night.

Which i don't care either way. I've got my credit card waiting for this sexy beast. Glad it looks like they will have white and not just that ugly ass blue.

Whoa! So when will cm17 be ready for esteem?
    Eta?
    (Sarcasim^)

But to stay on topic of s3...
Bout time they confirmed it. I just can't c myself paying that much for a phone. I understand its the best of the best. I'd rather have a nice phone. (Esteem, motion, connect) and buy a tablet.
I don't use my phone for alot when I'm out and about.
Oddly enough all my web browsing and such is done while at home.

Me too Fuzzy, I sure don't care if its 5, 6, 7 or whatever, its sure good the more we get but I'm please so far with my speed and most of the time I'm on WiFi.

And I'm glad that the phone its going to be white because I sure don't like that blue one. And I'm so ready to get it that whenever it comes out I'm going to have to buy two of them, one for me and one for the wife, of course, hehehe.
