the ring lag fix is a HOAX!!

    hey.

    just wanted to let you dedicated hero fans know...

    i just got a 'spare' hero and i'm mod'ing the crap out of it and trying a bunch of stuff.

    anyhow...during all this trial and error i adjusted my slot index cycle to 7 and rebooted - did the same thing with 0.

    THEY'RE EXACTLY THE SAME!! THERE IS NO FIX. hehe.

    if you don't believe me. try it. take 6 minutes total with reboot time and prove to yourself that this setting changes nothing.

    ok.

    that's all. just thought i should end this rumor.

    Changed mine to 0 and went from 3-4 rings to 1-2 rings.

    +1 - I tested it when I changed the SCI and it improved, without ANY doubt.
    Same as quoted, down to between 1-2 rings.

    hehe...maybe this ring lag has something to do with signal...cuz honestly, it didn't change a thing for me...

    i had 1-2 rings on every setting. 0-7. :)

    I have always had 1-2 rings... unrooted and rooted... never changed my slot cycle index either... I do have an airave at home.. not sure if having 5-6 bars at all times makes a difference.

    I tested it when I changed it and it worked great for me. I went from 4 rings before my phone was ready to be answered to 2 rings. I like the extra time to get to my phone. :)

    Adjusted mine down and with out question I am at 1 to 2 rings. Tested and confirmed. This is reproducible. I adjust it back up and the ring count goes up. You are the Hoax. :)

    Try updating your profile and prl... give it a shot. That might help.

    Worst case... you might want to think about a Master Reset of the phone and starting from scratch. PAinful, I know... but if the ring lag is causing you to miss calls then that's not good.

    I did the update last night and called my phone a couple times this morning. Seems to ring at about 1.5-2 rings. Is that an improvement? I'm okay with that...but would be good if it actually rang more closely to 1 ring consistently.
