Root Theme messenger app

Hey would someone help me theme the stock messenger app. I know it's been done I just don't know how to do it. Do I just pull the apk, and and take it apart, then change the pnf colors and resign the apk, and or do I do something else?? Any help would be appreciated

Just use 7zip, right click the apk select extract all, open the file it extracts and navigate to the res>hpdi and change out apks. Just make sure you name them the exact same as the ones you replace
