This seems like a good place for this observation...

I was chatting with a coworker who plays in a band, and he mentioned they were working on a good cover of the Stones' "Under My Thumb." As he talked something was whirring in the back of my mind, and after we finished talking about that specifically, I mentioned...

You know, back when Micro$oft announced Windows 95, they had a huge blowout and had gotten permission from the Stones to use "Start Me Up" as the theme song.

But nowadays, "Under My Thumb" might really be more appropriate... ;)

I was a Microsoft MVP Pocket PC.
Transported across my country for a week. Spent maybe $200 USD in Seattle.
Steak and drinks were expensive in Seattle.
Surprisingly my fellow MVPs were not intersted in drinking.
    I felt like a lush.

Nah I'm not an MS shill. I just keep an open mind. I don't take a blinkered view of world.
MS may suck in a lot of ways, but if you're a developer and took the time to see what they've done with .NET Core, then you'll realise they've looked at the current web development landscape, and incorporated the very best modern techniques into this framework.
What they produced before (ASP .NET dynamic web pages) was absolute garbage, but with .NET Core, they've really built something that rivals anything in the open source Java ecosystem.
If you want to discuss further about the pros/cons of say, .NET Core and C# versus Java and Spring MVC, I'm happy to do so.
