Probably best to give it a miss then for now then.

It will work but you will lose your APN settings.

Go to Settings: Wireless Controls: Mobile Networks: Access Point Names. From there find your current settings and copy them, then once you debranded, enter them (password might be invisible, then you'll have to find it on the web). There's also the option to select your provider, under "Mobile Networks" click on "Auto Internet settings" and this will give you the correct settings. On Rogers it did not give me 3G internet access though, I had to do it manually.

Any tips for changing the phone from listing as a 10i to a 10a after using this method? Will AT&T notice or care?

Thanks for the reply. To clarify...

There isn't a standalone patch for the method listed by powerkiter to change from x10i to x10a, would be the underlying answer of your post, correct?

So, AT&T users shouldn't use the video I quoted since both x10a updates require previous files from the installer each is listed with.

"Ok. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon."

Have you read the links I've posted?

No need to get snarky. I did read through both & each of your links gives specific start to finish instructions about those 2 methods.

My original question was if there was a way to change my x10i to x10a using another method (since I'd already done it) which your reply didn't directly answer, which led into my clarification post. Trying to use 1 app to root & a different app to change x10i to x10a isn't advisable (also why I asked clarification).

I'm just trying to save any other AT&T users from wasting their time by advising them not to use the video method if you can't change it back to a 10a when it's done since there isn't any specifics mentioned about it.

    Thanks, again.

I simply asked if you'd read the threads as asking...
    ...didn't seem like you had.
Here is what you actually asked...
...as the method used in the video is from one of those guides wasn't sure why you needed to ask.
See above, you're saying it can't be done ignoring the fact that if you use those guides you are in fact able to change it back.

I apologize. I mistakenly thought the video method was different from your linked one since I couldn't see the video pointing to the page you linked & the downloads were different.

The video has no extra instructions for an x10a owner (like your links do) & none of the links on the YouTube page mention it either.

My biggest issue is that there are new users daily looking at these tutorials (I'm one of them) & if a simple step-by-step video is listed as working for all x10's, I'd expect it to have all the needed info to get me back to my x10a & not leave me needing to search somewhere else for the final two steps.

Should people unfamiliar with the code behind these steps be trying this? Probably not, but with the process is being made easier with each update, the knowledge required to implement it gets lower, too.

I appreciate the help. Thank you. Debranding & rooting is done.

Might be an idea to contact him and ask him to update the video description with the info, as the biggest issue for those flashing X10i FW to an X10a is they won't be able to update using SEUS.
