Ok before I get flamed let me explain.LOL

I started a thread a week back about leaving the incredible for echo issues. It was like talking through a tin can. Very annoying. I discovered though that shifting the phone back and forth could decrease the echo. Something I shouldnt have to do. Every phone I have had has never had this problem. I got my phone through Amazonwireless and they agreed to send me another. I told them I didnt think it would help but I took the only option available to me.(I had already switched from another phone and they wouldnt let me go for a different kind of phone a third time)

I also discovered that using the phone as a right hander, the echo is barely noticable if at all. But Im not about to start using my phone as a right hander. Its about as uncomfortable as writing with my right hand.

Well of course the new phone did it as well. I am almost convinced this echo (which happens not surprisingly to very few people, whom I bet are mostly left handers) is due to the placement of the mic. The mic is located at the far right bottom of the phone when the phone is pressed agaisnt your face. Which means its closer to your mouth as opposed to using your right side. So Im assuming users will experience more feedback as a lefthander than a right.

I did try putting the in call volume down as far as it would go, as suggested by verizon trouble shooting. It didnt help but made it worse.

I finally had to call amazonwireless back and they are taking back the phone and sadly NOT offering me any other options. They said I will have to get my next one through Verizon. Which sucks because they have higher prices.LOL. Amazonwireless are going to suspend my contract though and have Verizon restart it when they recieve their merchandise back from me. Thankfully I wont be subjected to an ETF from Amazonwireless or Verizon. Its not AW or Verizons fault. The service from both has been beyond my expectations.

So I was wondering which hand everyone here uses. If they are right handed could anyone switch and use the phone on their left for a couple of phone calls to see if they experience the echo??? The echo is not there 100% of the time. I would say about 80% of the time depending on what angle I have the phone along my face. Moving it up or down horizontally helps a little.

I mainly use it left handed (i am left handed) and haven't noticed the issue you are having. My wife is left handed also and hasn't said anything about it either.

Interesting. I went to a Verizon corporate store and they noticed it there. At first they didnt and used it for a minute and noticed it. I also had a couple of friend try it and they also noticed it. One said he would get very annoyed by it as well. I wondering if geographical location makes a different??? Though that wouldnt account for the fact that it sounds pretty good on the right side. Both of mine did it as well as the floor models in all the Verizon I went to.( I went to 3 in about a 25 mile radius)

Also noteworthy: My girlfriends neice is having the same problem on her Motorola Driod Global. Lives in the same area.

Other Verizon phones I have had do not do it as well as friends of mine who have different Verizon phones. Maybe its just certain android phones in certain areas???

Not to be rude, but why do you keep starting new threads stating the same things as your original? If you're ready to move on from the incredible, go ahead no one will blame you, but continuing to complain about it in multiple threads within a weeks time is just asking to get flamed. Your other threads are still on the front page and they haven't gotten off topic, so why not keep your comments there?

I am talking about a specific reason why the phone echos. By starting a new thread I will get more input. No one barely responded to the other thread in a week and the other one was a Vs thread. No need to even post in the thread if you have nothing to offer. I am only asking the left handed question so I can give Verizon some input on the whole thing. End of story.

Geezz so many people here are very sensitive to threads that might have a common theme. Its not like the traffic here is congested to start with.

I just posted and forgot to mention mine echoes as well. In answer to your question, I am right handed and use the phone with my left. It echoes either way

^^^^Yes mine echos with on the right as well but not as bad. Sometimes its not noticeable. This really sucks because I love this phone othewise. Sadly it looks like Im going to a basic phone for now. HTC and Motorola just have too many bugs in them for me to deal with right now.:(

It's not just a common theme, its the exact statements from the other thread. It really sounds like an isolated problem, either your location or you got two defective phones. I use mine in both hands regularly and never had issues with signal or sound quality. The mic isn't really that far from center, maybe a half a cm, its not on the far right, but talking on the left could put your mouth closer. Unfortunately for you (and all lefties) most products are designed for the right handed.
Verizon shouldn't need input from a forum if they value there customers, they will most likely work with you on getting a new phone. It might take a few calls, bit it will happen. Bit I definitely recommend calling rather than in store, they seem easier to get things done with.

Sounds like you are definitely having a weird issue, could be a combination of hardware and your location. Though I doubt location has too much to do with as I'm sure you've made calls from other areas.
In my opinion this phone has the best call quality of any phone I've had.
are you (the caller) the only one who hears the echo or does the person you are talking to notice it?
My wifes old lg dare had the same issue and a replacement fixed it.

    This thread has my approval.

If anyone has a problem with it they can take it up with me. :)

As far as the issue goes, I'm no help as I don't own an Inc.

Yes some of the statements are the same. But again I wanted this thread to deal with it specifically. Besides as it happens my other thread was just closed by a mod.

I am right handed and I hold phones in my left hand most of the time. It doesn't seem to me that difficult a thing to do that someone would need to be ambidextrous. I've never noticed an echo.

This. If you can't tolerate holding your phone in your right hand, something is wrong. I'm right handed and use my phone in my left hand all the time. I have never noticed an echo when doing so either.

I guess you guys didnt read my entire opening post and subsequent posts. As the thread title shows theres a question mark. I also stated it may be a location issue. Others have this problem. Im not making it up. Both phones I had do it as well as all the one in Verizons in my area. Its on the right side as well just not nearly as bad. I shouldnt have to hold the phone a certain way to make it work better. HTC has admitted the problem but never corrected it. Its most likely a hardware issue since none of my other verizon phones have ever done that. It very well most likely happens so infrequently HTC decided it wasnt worth fixing.

I was curious if others had the problem. Plain and simple.

I have trouble hearing on mine when I'm at home. But not as much as when I am in town. I tend to use my right hand more than my left and it sounds the same to me. I can't understand every third word pretty much.

With the echoing I got a hiss or two and it was hard to understand the person sometimes. But it was the echoing that forced me to eventually get rid of it. Which despite what some here think I am extremely sad that I had to do so. It was a great phone except for the call quality. I sincerely think now that this device is sensitive in certain locations.

Ya I think its certain areas and it kinda crackles. I'm literally 30 min from Canada and in an area I csnnot get cable or broadband internet. But it doesn't bug me as much bc I am not talking on it a lot. Otherwise the phone has been pretty good and I've had it since June.
The only problem I really had was a grounding issue.
  18. I too am right handed but talk and text with my left. Never had any echoes in my home area but have experienced the echo problem while traveling so my guess and i do mean guess would be it may have something to do with geographic location. By the way i don't think pointing out a problem with the phone is in any way offensive as some here sadly seem to think nor do i belive that to an anthropomorphise an object like a cell phone and compare it to speaking badly of someone's wife is rational but to each there own. Some of us don't find your post in any way offensive hope you find a solution :)

I'm what you'd call extremely left-handed. The only time I've ever heard an echo from my phone was when I set up my girlfriends bluetooth in her car and tested it by calling her from the passenger seat, terrible feedback, but disappeared as soon as i stepped out of the car.
I have no doubt this problem exists, but I can't help but suspect it's location-related, since many people who have the issue continue to experience it despite several replacement phones.

This would actually be evidence against handedness being a factor, since the D2G's mic isn't off-center (it's in the middle on the bottom edge of the body). Sounds like there might be something else at play. Do either/both of you use Google Voice to make calls?

I'm left-handed and getting a DInc later this week; I'll stop back in and report my results.

Im starting to think the Dinc's call quality is affected by location now. But yeah the off centered mic on the incredible I beleive makes it even worse. Using the incredible on your right is affected as well but not nearly as much and if the user has used it with his/her right since getting the phone probably doesnt doesnt bug them because its so infrequently due to t he placement of the mic when using it on the right. As for the D2G my GF's neice uses her right side. I may go to a couple Verizons in my area and see how the D2G is in the area and see if they all do it.

I use my left hand when talking on the phone. I have not noticed any issue with mine. H/W v0002.

As mentioned above its most likely location. The left hand thing came from the fact the echo is worse on the left than the right. I wasnt sure if it was mic plaement at first. The mic placement is probably responsible for the louder echo on the left hand side. BUT the whole echo thing seems to be based on where a persons location is. It has to be since ALL the incredibles I checked out at Verizons within a 20 mile radius did the exact same thing. So if you are in a location where the incredible isnt sensitive you wont hear it on either side.

Never noticed an echo issue. As a lefty I HATE the positioning of the charge plug (actually even as a non-lefty I'd hate it). The other great lefty trick is that the camera lense is in the PERFECT position to rest your index finger.
