Hey Android fourms! I have a question on rooting my htc thunder bolt... I am running 2.11.605.9 and I would like to root it... I looked at the guide and it looked pretty complicated for my version. Can someone explain to me how to do this in an easier way or maybe try to explain it a little less complicated? Or a video would be nice too:D Thank you for any help!

There are plenty of videos. Search YouTube.
I wish I could link one for you but I'm working tonight :(

ive allready simplified it as much as i can. :(

    basically you have 2 options

    1) you can download the recomended files, open a command window, and copy/paste the commands for the "fe3vo" method, then run revolutionary

    or

    2) you should be able to downgrade you software to .5 simply by running the ruu. this will let you run revolutionary without doing anything else, but will wipe your data

what questions or confusions do you have?

I would like to do 2... so I just have to run the ruu, assuming that I dont have to be rooted to do this, then just use revolutionary? If so that seems pretty simple because I have ran an ruu on my evo... do I have to do anything with the ruu except run it? And can you send me a ruu link? Thanks!

correct, just run it. thus far folks have been able to backtrack to .5,despite an s-on hboot aht normallyu prevents such things.

links are in the 4th post of the http://androidforums.com/thunderbol...underbolt-root-unroot-thread.html#post3272390 . :)

Good news! I got root access and flashed clockwork mod recovery and flashed cm7. So far so good! Since I am still new to the thunderbolt community can anyone recommend some kernals or maybe even some good Rome hat are preferably aosp? Also are there any better recoveries other than clockworkmod? Thanks again.

    My daily drivers:

    Kernel:
[Kernel] [Aosp] Leankernel: Minimalistic Kernel (V6.2.0, 5/14/12) - Thunderbolt Development - RootzWiki

ROM is Hacked3D_V2.8 and you'll find a download link here:
    [Rom][Unofficial]Shiftao5P Ic3.2.1 [Imoseyn Lk 5.1 Kernel] (11/20/2011) - Thunderbolt Development - RootzWiki - Page 76

As it says on that thread... I've been running it for Months. Awesome battery life. All the functionality I need works flawlessly. You can skin it pretty much anyway you want.

I run it with ADW. Skinned most everything including notifications, icons, etc.

i use TWRP 2.0 for my recovery.

I run Thundershed 1.5 ROM ({CUST} ThunderShed v1.5 | CM7.2 [ICS-ish] {March, 31st} - Thunderbolt Development - RootzWiki) and use the kernal thats built into it. havent had major issues since i've been running it.

try out a few roms and see what appeals to your needs/liking. everyone is different. :) happy flashing!
