Root time for froyo automatic updating apps??

i have 2.2 froyo installed with the automaic updates box checked on all my apps. However when i check my downloads in the market once again i see 3 apps that have updates available. How long does foryo take before it will update these apps. I figured if i check and it says update available it should of uppdated then

I'm finding that auto-updating works for me when I see an app has an update available, I check the auto-update option, and then I manually install the current update. I think you need to update manually the first time following checking the box -- just clicking the auto-update option without applying any update doesn't seem to work (for me at least).
