So I haven't tried a second ROM yet because I'm unsure of how the restore process works.

I know with nandroid I can do that from recovery I just have to make sure the backup I want is in the right folder on the sd card. (I'm saving some of them in my computer for space reasons)

What happens with Ti backup? I have the pay version so I imagine I can download it from the market and it will recognize my google account? Or do I need to dig up a key somewhere in my phone before I wipe it?

    Thanks

When you wipe data/factory reset and sign back into the market, goto downloads and all your paid apps will be there waiting for you to reinstall. So yes your google account will recognize it :)

And make sure you do a batch backup. Then you can do a batch restore.
