TMO update to the HTC slide - will it affect root?

It is very rumored that TMO is pushing an update to the Mytouch Slide in the next week (2.2).

As it was recently rooted - I'm wondering if that is an issue to those that have not rooted their devices. Would a 2.2 then need a different root (I'm guessing yes)...

I hate getting updates (coming from the iPhone world) when I'm not expecting them............

Yes, this. I read the release that said it would release 2.2 "soon", but that's as specific as I've seen.

Assuming that 2.2 will roll out like every other version has, then you will lose root since the new version won't have the vulnerability in it. Though you know it's always just a matter of time until they find another way to get Root back.
