Hi I just have arrived here during my search about what Android is. Funny enough there are tons of links for more advanced Android user then links to total noobs like me. The best place was actually wikipedia to start with as background info, but I really would like to read more about the Android OS (filesystem, command line etc) in an understandable language, mainly to cut down the amount of "Noob-questions", if you know what I mean (eg "What is adb in the command line?"). I hope you can point me to the right places. Now to my background. I have been using Linux for almost 10 years now, but still use Windows XP as I need that to run modding software for Motorola phones (Linux based OS) and also my latest toy, an iPhone. I really would like to use Android on the iPhone 2G. I know this is "work in progress", but it always helps to understand what is going on and why. I am not a programmer, but have some experience with shell scripts and cross-compiling.
