I tried updating to Google maps 5.2.0. I keep geting an intallation failure notice that says Package file is invalid. I've rebooted to no avail. I am able to doanlad other new apps and can update other apps I already have. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? I rely pretty heavily on navigation. I'm rooted and am currently using xtrROM 4.6.5 if that matters.

    Thanks in advance.

I just had an unsuccessful update on Maps too. It's mostly a Latitude update so no big deal for me.

I don't think this is a root issue. This thread probably should have been moved to the support sub-forum.

I had an error when it tried to install in stock Eris this morning, but a second try got it to install. With GSB tonight, it was part of a collection of about seven updates, and it installed after a long, long time.

It's a huge update - keep trying. You may want to go into (from home) settings->applications->manage applications, look for Market, tap it and tap "clear cache". Then go back to the market and try again.

In addition to Latitude, there is an update to something called Hotpot, whatever that is. (I know what it is, actually.)

I just got an email from google after updating maps telling me that my security was at risk because latitudes location collection was enabled.

what in the hell type of 4-square esque abomination is this thing anyway and why did it enable itself?

Still no luck getting google maps to load. I've tried countless times. Unfortunately, I have to update because whenever i launch maps it force closes. I think it has been corrupted by the incomplete update.

    I'd appreciated any ideas. Thanks.

Uninstall it and then install it again?

After numerous times, well over 15, it finally installed correctly.

    Thanks for the help.
