My touch screen goes all wonky when I have it plugged in to charge. I try to type in the security code to unlock the screen, and it puts all sorts of random numbers in the field, and sometimes activates the emergency call screen. I've had this issue with multiple chargers, starting with the stock charger. Purchased a replacement stock charger to be sure, same problem. Anyone else? I'm also having trouble with the screen flashing on and off randomly while phone is not in use, charging or not. I'm afraid to get a refurbished phone from verizon, as usually the ones I recieved (eris) had more issues than the one I turned in...

No problems with mine. I charge with the stock charger and cable almost all of the time, though when I travel I use a Kindle cable to charge the phone (so I carry only one micro-USB cable.) That said, I rarely use my phone when it is charging. My phone also never powers the display unless I press the power button or activate the slider.

You can try a factory reset to see if it's a bad app that is doing something weird, or just go with a warranty replacement. I think refurb Erises were bad because the Eris was such a fragile phone. The Droid 3 is pretty solid, IMO.

I had a similar problem with a previous phone.
If it's not your charger, then it's going to be the phones connection.
It's definitely a problem if you use the phone a lot while it's plugged in.
I never do, so I was able to live with it.

I believe this came up over on XDA as well. I think one thought was that heat from the phone charging was messing with the touch screen. How it ended, I can't remember, but that seems to be more of a device issue than a screwy app.

This happens to me only when I use my dad's charger about 90% of the time. So I assumed it's from using non original cables. Never happens to me when I use my car charger or USB charger to computer.

I've actually posted the same complaint when I first got my phone.

Here's my solutions that worked for me:

    1. If plugged into the wall, I have this issue. Plug in, and leave your phone alone. Let it charge.

    2. If you can plug into a USB on your PC, this does NOT happen.

    Problem solved :)
