If you use Blink you can set the trackball flashing speed as well as change the colors for various notifications.

I tried this and it made no difference. I'm using handscent which allows a flash interval of down to 1 which I'm assuming is 1 sec before a repeat flash. If I set it to 1 it doesn't work... only 2 does it work but that is a llllooonnnggg time. I would like to see if I can make it flash constantly until I get the message. I missed some important sms' the other night at the bar because I had it sat to one and it wasn't flashing....

Nothing worked for me in terms of speed/rate before rooting.

Just root your phone and install Trackball Alert Pro =P

I use Handcent - notification flash rate set to fast (no numbers, just options - maybe it's a recent change).

For mail I use Gmail Notifier - similar options available (colour and frequency).

I remember chompSMS having the trackball speed setting for months now. It's set to normal, which flashes significantly faster then other notifications.
    Always worked fine.
