transfer contacts to another cells received calls

New to the forum but thought I'd dive in. A friend mentioned to me he asked someone during a call if he had such and such's contact info. The guy said hold on and in a few seconds had somehow sent it to my friends recent call log.

I am new to android so thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knows how to do this. The only way I know is to send it via SSM or MSM text but that doesn't go to the recent call log.

Which phones were both using?

the receiver was using an iphone 4g but the sender was just using some sort of Mike phone. i searched on the web but could find nothing on it.
