Help transfer pdf and read

Hi! I'd like to transfer pdf files from my PC to the tablet to read on the go.
Can transfer, but where to put them on the tablet?
The tablet itself does not allow filesystem navigation, or does it?

Sure it does. If you swipe the screen to the left you come to a screen that has the "ES filesystem" icon on it. That allows you to explore the SD card and more.

OK, so where should the files go, and how do you bring them up on a reader? I have the file system reader, which folder do I put them in, and how to do that? When I connect my 'droid (Google Nexus 7) to the 'pooter, all the 'pooter sees is a music directory. I've tried emailing the pdf to myself, and I can read the email on the 'droid, but at least in "MailDroid" email app, there's no "download" link.
