Help Transferring Contacts

I currently have a Blackberry Torch and was able to transfer all my contacts with Bluetooth. However, they are sitting there in a file that says "Bluetooth share: Received" but are not in my Contacts folder. When I clicked on one of the people, it moved into my Contact folder. Is there a way to move all them at once?

Check out this link. I can't view it at work (stupid internet blocker) but it may be what you are looking for, the description sounded right.

found using google search for "Bluetooth share: Received for multiple contacts blackberry to android"

Actually, this is exactly the site I used to transfer my contacts. The instructions end after telling me to have the Nexus accept the transfer. I did that and the transfer was made, but just not into the contact folder. It looks like they are sitting in a "download" folder waiting for me to do something with them.

try going into your contacts/people app, open settings menu (3 vertical dots) then choose 'import/export' and point it to that file in the download folder?

One good thing about going to Android... your contacts are saved in your gmail account, and you can switch phones easy, and your contacts go with you!

PS you might be able to email that downloaded file to yourself, and import using regular gmail account on your PC.

Oh my gosh! That worked perfectly. I thought I had clicked on everything, but apparently I missed that. Thank you.

Now if I click on Contacts, they all show up. However, there is a row of moving arrows all across the top of my phone. When I pull it down, it is all my contacts listed individually followed by "will be imported shortly." At the top it says "inbound transfers." It's very active looking with more moving arrows and scrolling lines.

I don't understand because my contacts appear to have been imported. I want to stop/cancel whatever it is trying to do now, but can't see how. If I select one of them a screen pops up asking me if I want to cancel the import. I tried selecting "ok" and that one did disappear. I'm looking for a way to stop all of them without having to do each one individually because I have a lot of contacts, business and personal.

Has anyone had this problem?

Try power cycling the phone... that should stop the 'arrows'... and your contacts should still be there if they are listed already.

PS one of my favorite free apps is called "Fast Reboot"... it basically kills all the processes on your phone, sort of a reboot without an actual reboot. It can take care of odd issues sometimes. Doesn't require root, and it's one of the really FREE apps, no ads or repeated prompts to buy a full version.

You are wonderful! (First, I had to look up power recycling!) I followed your suggestion and it worked. Maybe someday I'll understand phones as much as I do my computer.

haha I should have just said turn the phone off then on again... or reboot... same thing :)

Smartphones are pretty much handheld computers nowadays anyway :)
