Here is something that seems to work wonders at removing the lag and choppy screen transitions and animations from your home screen when using live wallpapers. Move the live wallpaper to your SD card, then install it as you normally would. For some reason this gets rid of the terrible lag I was experiencing when ever I used a live wallpaper. I am running BBV6.2 with the stock over clocked kernel ( just came from V6.1, what an improvement! ). I'm using the Solar Winds live wall paper from the market. For some reason you have to download the ones you want from the market and then go into settings, manage applications and move them to the SD card .I dont know why but it wont let you move the pre installed live wallpapers to the SD card. This worked for all of the ones Ive downloaded so far. Hope this helps .

Thanks for this.....Word of advice though, post something like this in the All-Things Root section. This is for people who post ROMs.

So that's all i need to do is move them to my SD card.... what happens when I mount it though? The LWP stops til the card is mounted again?

Thanks for the post. Posted in the wrong section but thanks regardless. I may be able to start using live wallpapers again.

Not if you use the Dual Mount SD Widget to mount your SD card instead of the native android SD mount method. Dual Mount SD Widget allows you to mount your SD card while having complete access to the SD card on your Droid.

In addition, the one that come with the phone / ROM are usually already in your /system folder - and items installed in /system simply cannot be moved to the SDCard.

One thing I have noticed is that when you Reboot it does go back to the ROMS default wallpaper . No big deal, I just happened to notice this when I reset my battery statistics. Still seems to be running smooth. Also the reason I posted here to begin with was because I assumed that since I was using the BB ROM that it should be included in the BB thread, sorry for the mistake. IM not sure if this works with other ROMS or not.

True - but then you should probably just move it directly as you'll need to 'install' it anyway from the SDCard. moving it out of system to anywhere will negate it from running until you find it via the gallery / file manager, so....

But, as the OP said, you cannot move it using the manner described - ever. Now system app (thus far) can be moved to the SDCard via Apps2SD from Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications.

Are we talking just moving to sd, or putting the apk on sd and then instaling?

It does seem confusing - one the one hand, it seems as if he's talking about moving the downloaded .APK to the SDCard and installing from there, but OTOH it seems like he's just referring to Apps2SD....

Sorry about the confusion. Its just a simple app2SD but you cant use any of the wall papers that are pre-installed on the ROM as explained by the other post alot better. I will say that when the battery dies or any time you reboot you will have to re-appy the wallpaper thats all. To me its not a big deal because
I like to change mine alot and its a small sacrifice to get rid of the lag.

Sorry if it's a daft question; but how do you move the app to the SD card? I have no option to do this in Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications

    Thanks.

After you get to Manage Applications you'll see a list and some tabs. In the Downloaded tab you pick the application and then it opens a property page where one of the choices is Move to SD.

This can get a bit dangerous, though,as there are apps that cannot move, apps that will not move, etc. I highly recommend using the app SDMove - Android app on AppBrain to check which apps can be moved. Its sister app SDWatch - Android app on AppBrain watches for when you install an app and notifies you if it can be moved.

NOTE: even apps that SDMove says can be moved may not be able to be moved. For example, many ROM developers / theme developers include free versions of apps in the ROM / theme that don't load into the normal user space, but load instead into the /system space. If an app that can normally be moved to the SDCard is loaded in /system then it will not be able to be moved - even if it prefers being on the SDCard.

I don't have this option for any apps. looked further into it, and it seems this is only available on Android 2.2, which isn't 'officially' available for my phone.

    cheers. :)

Will look into these apps, but from initial investigation it seems that these are only for froyo too. :(

Since you don't have your device listed in your user profile, I had no idea that you are not on a Motorola DROID. take care when trying to follow instructions made for one particular phone - they may or may not apply to your phone. Furthermore, they may work, or they may fsck up your phone.
