I attempted to root my ally and failed completely. I can turn the phone on but when I do I get a message that the android.process.acore stopped unexpectedly. Not sure what to do any thoughts?

Turn the phone off, hold end+menu+volume up. This will erase EVERYTHING. How were you trying to root your phone?

I followed directions I found in this forum. Since I have seen others that look easier. By the way, once the phone is wiped clean, then what. I am a real newbie but see the value of having a rooted phone. I also tried to wipe the phone as instructed and it will not work. Just took it back to factory specs. I have another ALLY that I bought after I thought I had bricked this one. So I am looking for an easy way to root.

Sorry i mixed it up. And which guide were you using? There are 2. I would suggest using the LGNPST to downgrade and then the 2.2.1 froyo guide trident and friends posted to root. And questions issues you may have would best be posted in the guide you are attempting to use. And the ally irc channel, http://webchat.androidia.net join the #ally channel

I would direct you to the Ally IRC, but it seems to be down at the moment. Click the link in my sig later to see if it's working again.

This happend to me as well. I already had 2.2 and was attempting to root using Tridents guide. Somehow I ended up dowgrading my phone back to 2.1-update1

Not sure what to do. When I recieved the same error you did, I did a hard reset and found that I had downgraded. Have you solved your issue?

If you followed the guide stepvby step you would have finished on 2.2. Hop on IRC, they should be able to help out.
