Root Trouble getting into Recovery

I am having trouble getting into recovery mode. The only way I know how is the 3 button combo and it will not work. I have a Vibrant that I have flashed many roms on. I have even flashed a rom on a Cappy for a friend, but just cant get it to work. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you flashed the old Odin 1-click onto too new of a Captivate build, which can cause you to lose the 3-button method.

My friend got it second hand and it is on a stock rom. He brought it straight to me. Is there any way to check if it was rooted before?

Is there a way to get the 3 button method back after doing this?... I believe this is what happened to my phone.
