So I met a guy online like any other but he turned out to be my senior. Seems like a nice and caring guy. we're talking like from 2 months or more.. n we r quite close enough. But I'm quite the paranoid type... So I can't trust anyone.. easily. Anyway so he says he wanna meet me. And I'm not sure if I should... Ahm.. what d'you think you'd do if u were a senior high second yr student n he's a college student!?

"senior high second yr student"????? not sure what that means....so you are a senior in high school? what year in college is he? does he know your age? do you live in the U.S.? i ask because dating an underage person is illegal in most states.

No kidding, that is really dumb to find someone online whom are you searching for in love, find someone who is pretty close to your age, vs some twenty some year old who is already married off and have five kids hahahaa :)

Just to clarify, dating someone underage isn't illegal (to the best of my knowledge). However, having sex with them may be, depending on their age and other circumstances (such as crossing state lines with them). There are other illegal things, too, like supplying alcohol to a minor.

@anushreesparkling, are you saying you're a sophomore in high school? What year of college is this guy in? And how long have you been meeting random guys online--you said that you met him "like any other" but he turned out to be older than you. If you're a sophomore in high school, I'm curious as to how/why you've had so much experience meeting strangers online.

Do you actually know his age? Do you have any proof of his age and where he's attending college? Like a student ID card? Are your parents aware of this relationship?

Age has very little to do with a relationship. Trusting a stranger you met on the net is the issue. You have sound reasoning if you are apprehensive about meeting anyone from the net. If you think he is truly worth meeting in person, perhaps inviting him to your home to meet you and your parents might be a safe avenue to pursue. I raised three girls and my advice to them when they reached dating age was if a guy wasn't open to or worthy of meeting me then he wasn't worthy of their time and emotions. Good luck and tread carefully. Dating anyone from the internet is a slippery slope.

Alright, also age does not matter if you are pretty nearby them, have you met his family?
I have known her entire family, well around 77% for many years now..

I agree with my buddy @olbriar that age isn't too important. My husband is seven years old than me, and it was downright scandalous when we got married--and I was 17. (No, we didn't "have to") But I was extremely mature for my age.

I also agree that meeting this guy with your parents present is a good idea--but I don't like the idea of having him come to your home. What if he turns out to be a creep? Now he knows where you live. I'd rather meet in a public place (if that's allowed where you live). Maybe make a lunch date with him and your parents at a restaurant that's doing outdoor service, if you're comfortable with that during the pandemic. Or wait until it's safe. If this guy is worth anything, he'll be happy to wait until it's safe to meet in person--with your parents present.
