After encountering a ton of other problems, I installed the necessary drivers and tried using unrevoked 3.3 and when it finished, it would bring up an error messaage "Internal error: Failed to unlock NAND flash?"

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Before I get the error message, it says it was successful and then after it will bring up the error. I know it didn't work because I don't have the super user app on my phone.

I have an HTC Desire running android 2.2, this is my first android phone so I'm pretty new to this. If you need more info let me know. My phone will always say low storage no matter how little apps I have on my phone storage so I feel rooting is necessary for my phone to run properly. Can someone help me?

Thank you for the link! I tried it a few times and it won't go past "Waiting for root"
Do I need to do anything else at this point? Or should I just keep waiting?

did you read the rooting faq (not guide)?

Please boot into hboot (vol down plus power from off) and tell us what it says. All this is essential information for rooting so you should know.

Thats a CDMA desire. Like the FAQ says, hboot 1.06 for CDMA is unrootable with unrevoked.

MandaNick has writted a tutorial to root that but the software used is Beta (as in test phase) so maybe it would be best to wait a bit?!

Oh sorry, I didn't know it was a CDMA Desire. How can I get off this screen? Would you say that tutorial is safe?

Just pull the battery out ;)

Erm safe? Not really, all rooting guides carry an amount of risk. The new method is still in testing and has only been out for less than a week. Personally I would recommend waiting a little bit to see how others get on who have been preparing to do this for a while. I would say currently the rissk is greater than other methods simply due to the unknowns involved.

For reference though, the tutorial he wrote is here:
