Help Trying to save Voicemails with Audacity

I am trying to save my wife's voicemail using Audacity to record them as shown in this video. The problem is when I connect the audio jack to the mic input on my laptop, the voicemail still play through the phone speakers. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong? I just tested it on my Moto G and it works perfectly but not her Centura!

Update: I did get the voicemails saved, but by putting it on speaker phone and recording it.

While it doesn't really answer your question, Google Voice makes it pretty easy to download voice mails if you are going to want to save them in the future.

Thanks I'll let her know. I never save them lol but she saves them all the time.
