    Good afternoon all.
    I'm using the AIDE app to program an app that I ultimately want to market/sell. I have other versions-- WP7, Win7-- of the app, but as this is in Java, I'm stuck.
    I am not able to get the Java code correct which links the xml codeinput to output once the xml button is pushed. I've found the JavaCodeGeek page discussion on this,
    http://examples.javacodegeeks.com/android/core/widget/edittext/android-edittext-example/
    My apparent problem is one of understanding.....:(.
    Being away from this for 4-5 years isn't helping either.....

    The example is showing how to output a result, and call an intent, to open a new page. I don't want a new page-- I just want the output, as a label, or as the toast msg.
    The problem that I'm having is getting the code to read my inputs, insert those into the formula, and go from there.

    In windows, it was a lot easier. I named my inputs, and then called the named inputs in my formula, and ......

    Code sample from codegeeks.

    <code>
    display = (Button) findViewById(R.id.displayBtn);
    display.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
    @override
    public void onClick(View v) {

    String displayString = "You typed '" + input.getText().toString() +
    "' as input text and '" + digits.getText().toString() + "' as digits";

    }
    </code>
