Help Turbo Bluetooth and car

dsauch

Newbie
Does anyone know of a fix or cause for the following issue:
Droid Turbo (latest updates) connecting to bmw (328xi 07) - initial connect is good, sound is clear. Next day or on restart of the car/phone reconnect - the sound is now garbled, hardly understandable. The signal strength shown on the car monitor is at one bar and constantly flickers.
I have to clear the connection and fully reconnect to make it work. It also seems that clearing must be done from car side (based on some other posts that were Subaru oriented).
I never had this issue with razr, maxx etc. Also on a rental 2014 chevy it worked without issues.

So it seems to be specific incompatibility between droid and 07 bmw.

Any ideas?

Sorry I can't help much but since the recent update, I do not experience any bluetooth connectivity issues from my Droid Turbo to my aftermarket Sony Deck. However, since initial release and until now with the recent update, people on the other end always comment that there is an echo when I talk. Anybody know of a fix?

Sounds like I have the same problem as the OP. 2006 BMW 330i with the premium stereo and nav system. I feel like it's new since the VoLTE update but I can't say for certain.

I am confident I had this issue before VoLTE.
I've had it working ok for couple of days now. I am not 100% sure which combination of unpair/pair made it stable. But I think:
1) pair phone/car
2) wait until sound breaks
3) in car menu unpair/delete phone
4) start "add new phone routine"
5) pair with existing pin that you already used to set it up the first time.

I also opened a case with motorola, but havent had a chance to follow up.
Coincidentally the guy who sold me this phone said it wasnt working with his car BT... I didnt ask which.

Hi,

Is it the music audio which is bad or phone call audio? If music,is it streaming over the network or playing from phone memory?
Just to confirm, you say Dorid Turbo works fine on a rental Chevy!

the premium bmw's dont have "music" streaming capabilities :-))) although mine is 07, so perhaps newer ones do.
so its just phone call audio.
the rental was 2014/15 model, it had full "social/media" support (ie pandora and other stuff) with latest bluetooth what have you. Both music and phone audio was fine.

as I said earlier - since hitting a sweet spot of the "order" in which things need to be configured I have not had audio issues so far. Very similar to what Subaru owners reported on other forums.

I am having the same audio issue on my 04 BMW. The sound is now garbled, hardly understandable. Unpaired the turbo with the car. The sound was back to normal. Two days later the problem was back. This phone is the first one having an issue with my BMW. All other phones have worked great with the car. I also have a 14 Durango that does not have any issue paired to the phone. As we are still waiting for android 5.1, I am hoping it will resolve the issue!

@JMBUFFI Do you have any logging capabilities enabled on your phone? Try clearing the "cache" under settings->storage!

after upgrade to Lollipop the sound is now constantly broken, nothing i do gets me a clear sound :-(
I cleared cache and wiped phone, nothing...

Lollipop has broken BT audio in my 2015 Subaru Forester. 5.1, stock 64gb Turbo

Any time I start to play a song, the song will play normally at first, then randomly, the audio will drop out then come back -- it will happen 3 or 4 times and then it seems to resolve and play ok.

When it drops out the music is clearly still "playing" because when it comes back the elapsing timer jumps forward a random number of seconds; seems to correspond to the length of the dropout.

As long as I maintain the connection, fine but when I disconnect and reconnect, same issue.

Sucks a lot because I can't just play a song I love for somebody without annoying the crap out of both of us.

Kitkat was PERFECT with Bluetooth; same car.

Thoughts?

ive opened a case via moto customer help website, as well as sent emails to all bmw support emails i could find. i think thats as much as I can do. technically turbo is not even on supported list of moto phones for bmw, which is bs of course - last phones there are from 2 years ago.

Try deleting the pairing from both the car and the phone and then reestablish the pairing.

If that still doesn't fix it, try opening the multitask button and swipe away all running apps except for the app that is playing music.

If that still doesn't fix it, try this: go into settings / Wifi, tap the menu control, tap advanced, and turn off "scanning always available". Then turn off the WiFi radio on the phone.

Does any of that help?

This happened to me last week for the first time. Callers sounded like they were underwater. 2015 GMC Sierra. At my next stop I turned off ignition, powered off phone. After restart everything worked fine. I've had the Turbo since it's release date and use the bluetooth/GM IntelliLink connection frequently.
