I use mobile data every now and then to browse some web pages, but it seems that there are a number of apps running in the background that downloads data whenever I turn on mobile data. How can I disable all mobile data EXCEPT for the browser? I'm using the stock browser atm.

Make sure you have all apps auto updates and auto synch turned off.

There is not setting within Android to do this. You need to find out which apps are access mobile data and turn it off (if possible).

I agree...mobile data is either on or off. The most you can do is reduce the amount of apps using data. If you have auto update and synch off then most apps will sleep until you manually access them...depending on type of apps you have downloaded.

Rooting your phone and then restricting network use via DroidWall is a very effective solution for exactly this sort of problem.

    Background Data off
    Autosync off

Turn off notifications and refreshes on various apps. Don't install apps that don't have such features.

Hi, on a ten inch tablet with a huge screen browsing the internet I don't need bbcnews.co.uk/mobile, I want bbcnews.co.uk full page.

How do I turn the "mobile" off? What selections do I do for that? Some news sites don't do mobile so they are fine as is.

    Thanks,

    JerryLA
