Turning off Auto-Update of apps & system

How can I turn off the Auto-Update of apps & the system?

Every time I go on wi-fi, the dang thing starts updating apps & the system. Then, I have to wait for it to finish before I get full use of my device (S8+).

Go to the play store, settings, and choose

Do not update over WiFi

PERSON mentioned system too. That's located in developer mode area. And btw,no apps will update if one is denied updating . I tried to stop updates. It does what it wants.

OP NEEDS TO GET PACKAGE DISABLER APP IN APP STORE TO DISABLE UNWANTED APPS TOO.

I appreciate all the suggestions. Based upon them, I have gone to the App Store and turned off all updates so that I can manually update when I want. This should be what I need most, tho the system update is also desired to be done manually, when I know I won't be using it for a while.

So, I looked through all the settings (Nougat, Android 7.0), and have not found anything that says "Developer Mode" like I did when I had my Galaxy S4 (that died, prompting this upgrade). It used to be in the "About Phone" page, IIRC, but is not there on this one. Where should I be looking to find it?

Look under build in about phone, tap 7 times, then developer shows.

WOW!!! They surely want to make it an OBVIOUS option!!!

Hey, you mentioned the Package Disabler App. I presume that is the $1.49 cost Package Disabler Pro (Samsung)? This looks like it will allow me to disable the bloatware that I do not want (I do want the DirectTV stuff, because that is our TV provider). Good call. Will put that on my list of things to do.

Not to worry, I usually delve cautiously. I've got a good bit of computer experience under my belt, so, the ONE thing I DO know is that I BARELY know ANYTHING! I appreciate you.

You are saying that a notification used to give you a screenshot of something? Now it goes straight to the gallery where the screenshot is located? My notifications only give me banners - I believe I set that on my Notifications in Settings. Without looking at the phone, I would say there is probably a setting where you can pick the type of notification - screenshot or banner. It would seem that something changed the setting for pictures to open them in Gallery, which might have changed ALL the picture settings. There should be a setting in Apps for the Camera (maybe) to open photographs in Gallery.

I am just making a SWAG, more WAG than S.

Let me get off this computer, finish cleaning up from dinner, & I'll take a look at my phone.
