OK, So I don't know if there is a way to change this, but the brightness of the hard buttons (home, back, search) is incredibly annoying to me(especially since my screen brightness is all the way down) and most of the time I don't need it. Is there a way (or an app) to adjust the brightness of this or to turn it off completely? Thanks!

If you're rooted, there are a few ROMs out there that address that issue, and allow for configuring the light's duration time, but none that disallow the lights altogether that I know of.

Also, if you're not rooted, there is an app in Market called, "screen filter," which is about screen brightness, but does have a setting for those soft keys on some devices.

They are not "hard buttons," by the way. On the Fascinate the hard buttons are the power button and the volume rocker. ;)
