There is a known forum glitch that results in an error message when uploading an image. This tutorial provides an easy workaround.

Please note that while *I* use F-Stop Gallery Pro for this task, any good image editing app should have similar functions.

The idea is to resize your image, down, until its size pleases the AF gods. :)

    Let's begin:

    1) install an image editing app if you don't already have one

    2) fire it up:

    AF_2_image_tutorial.jpg

    3) open the image AF bombed out on:

    AF_3_image_tutorial.jpg

    4) find your app's 'edit' or 'resize' [or similar] option:

    AF_4_image_tutorial.jpg

    5) using F-Stop Pro, after pressing 'edit,' you're presented with the image editor; do nothing! Just press the 'save' [disk] icon at the top:

    AF_5_image_tutorial.jpg

    6) note the image's dimensions; they're too big! That's why AF spit out its error message:

    AF_6_image_tutorial.jpg

Now use the slider to reduce them:

    AF_6a_image_tutorial.jpg

    7) you're done, unless you want to change anything else shown; press 'OK'

    8) you're now sitting on the original image; F-SP does not touch the original at all--it creates a copy; if you browse your files now, you'll see two of the images:

    AF_8_image_tutorial.jpg

    The original's name is unchanged:

    AF_8a_image_tutorial.jpg

The edited version's name will have "~(1)" appended to it:

    AF_8b_image_tutorial.jpg

You can leave that as is or rename it; it makes no difference as far as AF is concerned.

Note that, to the best of my knowledge, there is no magic size. One file may have big dimensions, but a small file size, another, small dimensions but a larger file size, and either or both can be accepted or rejected.

If you're in the mood to experiment, start by resizing it down a little, try uploading it, if it fails, resize it a little more, and so on. Personally, I just scale them all down to ≈1,000 pixels for their max height or width, and that always works.

Feel free to ask questions! :D

Where's a meme of Marie Antoinette saying "Let them use Photoshop" when you need one?! ;)

    Thanks, Moody. Nicely explained.
