Help two android phones

This may be a dumb question, but I was wondering if you have two android phones, can both be using the same google account? Will it conflict or do you simply just get notifications on account associated apps on both phones?

Just saw your question so I'll jump in here. I have the same Google account on a phone and tablet and yes I receive the same notification twice. However, if I delete say an email notification on one device it will disappear on the other.

You may want to use 2 different apps, 1 on one phone and 1 on the other. Example: Use K-9 on one phone and the stock Gmail app on the other.
