Two ideas/requests

Are there any applications that will:

1. Force landscape mode no matter where you are in the system?

I've tried a couple of the apps in the market and haven't found one (or didn't see) that would do this, specifically for the desktop.

I was running one of the CM7 builds and the rom would do that. Not sure if its a setting/tweak/custom function.

2. Keep the screen from timing out while a particular application is running?

I've got my screen set to turn off after 10 minutes, but when I'm commuting I run vlingo. Having the screen timeout & lock the phone messes up vlingo to the point that I have to unlock the phone, stop and restart vlingo, and then hope vlingo doesn't give me any audio feedback when I click the call button. Frustrating

If there aren't any, can someone look into whether or not its possible?
