Several places I have seen (for DROID X) to use the Droid 2 Bootstrap?

    Here's what I did tonight:
    1) SBF back to stock Froyo, using linux boot cd
    2) Install Z4Root, and root
    3) Install Droid 2 bootstrap
    4) Install Rom manager, and clockworkmod recovery.
    5) Use Droid2 Bootstrap, seledct bootstrap, then select reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
    6) Install part 1 and part 2
    7) Factory wipe.

I now have rooted GB waiting for me to setup my acccounts.

What advantage would there be to reinstall the Deodexed version as in one person's guide?

Now that you are on GB .596 I recommend trying out a ROM based of .596 (Liberty, Apex, etc)... you will see much improved performance. If you want a more Blur based ROM try out Liberty GB 0.7
