UD 8.0 restored the vibrate option to the volume rocker that froyo took away. When I first installed the ROM that worked fine. After a couple of days however, it seems that the volume rocker no longer controls my sound settings. Ne one else experiencing this? Or Better yet, could someone who it IS working for tell me what ur sound settings are set too? Thanks all!
    :D

edit: I figured it out. For ne one else having an issue under setting>sound vibrate mode must be set to "only when in silent mode."

hmmm.. ive been running ud8 for a wk or so and it still works for me. i always make a nandroid back up as soon as i get a new rom set up as i like. if you did this you could flash back to it. however i think you probably did something to yur settings keeping it from working properly. if all else fails reflash the rom without wiping.

Still going on strong with this thing and I have never hit any lag at 1000/600 at ondemand. Battery life is just dumb. 27 hours with heavy use (3G especially).

Yesterday, I really put UD8.0 through the paces. Here's my findings...

UD8.0 makes my DROID act like an entirely new device. As if it's running at 2.5GHz, or something there-about. And I'm using the stock 800 kernel. I have yet to get one single FC since installing. And lag? ... zero. Lastly, cold boot up time is about 45 seconds!!! That's about half the time as most other ROMs on my DROID.

Last night when I went to sleep at around midnight ... my DROID had been on for approx. 16 hours. I was at a friend's house using Google and YouTube quite a bit (as we compared my DROID to his iPhone). My battery was at 20% when I put it on the charging dock. My DROID hasn't seen that kind of battery life EVER.

I am totally in love with this ROM. It's just stupid. And I've been installing ROMs since last December, sometimes a new one every few days. This ROM is unparalleled by any other ROM. It's THAT good. Donating to the dev is NOT an option, it's mandatory.

I completely agree. This ROM is incredible and does make you feel like you just got an entirely new device. The amount of customization options offered is mind-boggling. I won't be flashing to anything else for a long time. I'm off to make a donation to the dev now.

The ONLY thing I don't like about this ROM is that BT Voice Dial doesn't work. I have yet to find a setting to make it work. Bugless Beast has a distinct advantage over it in that respect. Otherwise the ROM is as close to perfect as they get.

I know at one point there was a scrip released to fix the BT dialing issue. I think it's still up on BD's site. If you can't find it let me know and I'll pull it from my phone and post it.

Yeah, that and step-by-step instructions on how to do the script. Writing code is NOT my best talent :p

Looking at the BD website but not seeing anything about BT Voice Dial. I haven't voted in the poll yet because right now it's Outstanding but the BT fix would make it Elite. This ROM is highly recommended for all Droid 1 users.

The only issue I'm having is after moving files to and from the SD card. After unplugging, LP doesn't act right and I have to manually set many of my icons again. I followed the standard procedures for installing a new ROM. It's been a few days now on this ROM and always the same issue. Other than that, this is very nice.

I would love to know how so many of you get the batter life you get. For me, if the phone comes off the charger at 8 am, I'm down to 40% by 5:30 pm on a Sunday, which is my least active phone day. Ideas?

Do you have any profiles setup in setcpu (providing that you use it)? I find that dropping my cpu speeds down while the screen is off saves a tremendous amount of battery power. Also look at your screen brightness settings, a little less bright of a screen can also save battery life. And also look at your coverage in your area, if you are switching between 1X or 1x and 3g maybe switching to wifi could help. It really all depends on where you live in that aspect. Hope any of this helps.

My battery lasts about 24 hours, possibly more, but I always charge it by the next day when I'm about to sleep.

I take mine off the charger about 11pm-12am at night, then I text during the day (anywhere between 120-150 texts a day) I'll occasionally browse the web and check this page from my device. So I'd say I use the device average but it lasts from that 11pm-12am unplug until the next day at 11pm-12am with around 20-40% charge left depending on what I did with it during the day.

Using the default kernel and no SETCPU (because I'm getting 900+ on Quadrant).

I decided to give this ROM a whirl after all of the good press it was getting in this thread.. the first thing I noticed was the sheer numbers of customization options - clearly unparalleled to any other ROM I've run to date. That being said, after running it for a few days, there were a couple of things that made me switch back to LFY1.6

    1) Heat - Strangely, this has never been an issue on nearly every ROM I've used to date. That being said, after the initial boot, this thing was hot on the stock kernel. I mean, cook an egg hot. It was a bit unnerving.. after letting it settle in and sync everything, I decided to try putting it through its paces (i.e., web surfing, emailing, navigation). Again, this this would become ridiculously hot. Flashed my trusty Chevy 1.2Ghz ULV kernel, and oddly enough it was still hot - albeit not as hot as the stock kernel that came with the ROM. Did I say it was hot?

    2) Maybe it's just my Droid, but even with the LP tweaks, I didn't see the snappiness and lack of lag that most people have mentioned. Granted, when I needed to do something, the ROM worked - but there were too many times where there was a hiccup here and there in either redrawing a screen or switching screens.

Being a performance over aesthetics guy, the cool fonts and boot ani's I could tweak wasn't enough to make me keep the ROM - so I flashed back to LFY1.6..

Just put this on my phone and so far it all seems well :) I love the customization (Although I like the basic feeling so I more or less just messed with the LED lights.) Phone LED came with the beginning issues that Cyanogen did where they didn't pulse they just stayed solid (Quick fix but bothersome)

Doesn't seem to have the little Gadgets icon in my menu that Cyanogen had that had some extra little goodies. Phone is FAST though which I am loving. Was getting a lot of lag with Cyanogen.

Here's to no dropping of phone calls.. let's hope!

This has really become the ROM to beat. I was always a Cyanogen fan but it just isn't fast enough for me and was always too laggy. The only thing I wish UD would kang from him is the awesome Power Control widget. I loved the easy way to toggle 3G in order to save battery life. Other than that, this is my first time using UD, and I love it.

Just don't forget to backup your current state. I'm sure you've already done that, but that's more for any of our newer folks who may need that healthy reminder.

Same here. I've had my Droid since December of 2009 and I've been rooted since January of 2010. This ROM breaths new life into my Droid (I mean, I was already in love with my Droid even after 9 months but this ROM takes it to the next level).

It's fast AND just as stable as a stock Droid (but it has all of the cool extras that are only possible with a rooted device). It's also the "little things" (like the red "loading" bars) that make this ROM feel fresh to me.

ADW/LauncherPro + UD8 = I'm not impressed by any other smartphones on the market.

This ROM didn't perform well on my Droid, either, and I really wanted it to after reading all these rave reviews and seeing the phenomenal customization options for myself. When I tried it last Friday evening into Saturday, the lag, FCs and error messages on my setup were unbearable. I started with the stock kernel and also loaded the slayher 1100 kernel that I've been using with great success on other ROMs, and had to switch back to a ROM on which I experience no lag or other errors.

I'm just curious here, but did you wipe boot/system/cache?

Yes, I ALWAYS wipe data, cache, system and boot when I change ROMs. In fact, even though there are many who think this is silly, I wiped each partition 3 times before loading the ROM. I'm sure it's my heavy Sweeter Home 2 theme that didn't work with UD8, but I judge every ROM by how well it handles my SH2 theme. It's a dealbreaker for me if a ROM doesn't work well with my SH2.

Actually Girl I wouldn't have asked the question if I had been paying attention to who I was responding to
These roms are so funny, I couldn't get CM6 to run comfortably on my Droid but this UD8 spins like a top.
