    Evening all!

Just ordered my N1 for UK delivery, so first the question - has anyone else thats done this received their shipping info yet?

Secondly I've done some calcs and the N1 is cheaper than an iPhone - workings below:

N1 cost after tax delivery etc - around

    Its actually... $529 + $29.65 + 17.5% VAT = $656 or about 411 pounds.

There's no duty on mobile phones - only the accesories. I think the $19.99 for the UK charger is pointless - i have a 50p adaptor!

Are you certain about the no customs duty on mobile phones?
Can you point me in the direction of the information on that please?
I'm sitting here wondering whether I should go for this or not!!
    It might tip the balance.:)

Are you on one of those 30 day contracts when you can cancel? I have only seen T-Mobiles, which I will probably get if I can sort out the best way to get my nexus (whether to get it from the US or wait for a UK site)

Pretty sure that while customs duty will not be payable, you will have to pay VAT on importing the Nexus One into the UK.....

I don't care as I have ordered the phone anyway, as I think it is more future proof than my Hero (even though I love it...).

    Can't wait :D

Mine's on its way now and looking at the tracking, it should be in the UK later today for delivery tomorrow (snow permitting...).

Has anyone got any experience on how DHL charge you the import and duty taxes? Do they withhold delivery until you pay or do they send you an invoice at a later date?

    Hi All,

I have been mulling over the idea of ordering SIM free from the US all morning, but I am unsure if I should purchase now or wait until it is available SIM free from Google's UK store as some have suggested it will be.

Questions; I have noticed some US purchasers mentioning local taxes, this is because the US does not have VAT as a statutory tax in all states, correct? So the Nexus One will be at least +17.5% more expensive than the listed price of $529 when it hits the UK anyway?

Next, in this thread someone has stated that phones are not subject to import duty, can somebody confirm this upon arrival of their handset please?

If this is all correct I figure the Nexus One will be at least as expensive from the UK store as ordering direct from the US less the cost of the DHL - something I'm not going to lose sleep over if it means me getting the phone quicker. Agreed?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Yea I thought about doing that, I suppose it all comes down to how much you want the next best thing, and what the final retail cost is over here.

Looking @ the market I'd be surprised if it is sold by google UK for any less than probably

One more question for the UK.

I was having a look on eBay just out of curiosity to see if anyone was stupid enough to pay through the nose for one of these things (apparently the answer is yes!), and I read in a product description that the phone will not work with Three's phone network? Is this correct?

    I'd just found a great

I think it'd be almost impossible for someone to have received one yet in the UK, DHL express is overnight by the end of the next day.
I ordered @ 7pm last night and I'm still waiting for the confirmation :(

FYI to all looking for SIM only deals the Voda packages are pretty good :)

I ordered on the spur of the moment just after the page went live, and received the shipping confirmation overnight. So, I'm assuming it will be arriving sometime tomorrow.

Still interested to know how/when DHL get back the VAT and any other import costs off you and whether they do so by withholding delivery until you pay?

I think it'll either be a web form you need to go on, or go to the local DHL office and pay in person. I can probably guarantee it'll mean a delay to getting the phone sadly..

Slight update on how/when to pay the import and duty fees from the DHL site -
So, you get the package, and then you get an invoice later on. Should be no delay in delivery, unless the snowpocalypse continues...

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread and see how things work out with import duty and VAT. I think it may work out cheaper to get it once it lands in the UK. If Google do free next day shipping then it'll probably be around the

    Says who?
Would love this to be true - I guess we could just put the rom on the us versions if needed

I highly doubt they would be selling phone's to customers in the UK, Singapore etc that could not be upgraded to multitouch if and when it is added to the UK release...

I was wondering if phones shipped here would already have multitouch enabled. We'll find out soon enough.
