Great to see terrestrial tv ads for the Desire here in the UK - should mean the handset has a long life as it looks like it will get a big customer base. I was a loyal Windows Mobile user for 5 years and had no interest in the constraints of the iPhone and I got fed up with MS's failure to produce a modern mobile OS so the Desire is the perfect fit! 32GB SD card will be snapped up when they are released. I have seen a post somewhere that says Android wont be able to format it so you need to format it on your PC.

Will keep my eye out for the ads. Are they HTC only or for a network?

Get loads of interest when people see me with it, asking if they should move from winmob, Apple or Nokia.

As an ex Nokia man of 14 years it's easy to convert the Nokia folk! They really need to rethink making an Android handset.

It is a good advert. It promotes HTC rather than just the Desire specifically.

Do HTC really need advertising lately?

Right now they are the manufacturer most in demand.

Non network specific advert which was very slick and the phone looked very, um, desirable.

    No, that's not it.

The ad is closeup of the Desire and shows off different aspects of the interface - it's like 10 - 15 secs

Not really... only to people who have researched phones fairly recently ;)
For example, someone asked me for my "i thingy" the other day, I just responded "my what?" :(

I'm pretty sure this is the one I've seen quite recently... although I only really remember the last bit so it might not have been...

I saw the Desire ad too.
    Was pretty cool :)
It has been selling out even before the ad's so lets hope they oversell IPhone although thats gonna take a while if it ever happens.

I just thought about the ad on the tv about the HTC Desire.

I wonder whether its a knock at Apple?

The advert clearly shows a few people about to walk away or get out of a taxi, yet they remember their Desire phones as it is an important part of their life.

What with all these new iPhone prototypes being 'left' in bars etc, does this show that the phone is so forgetful you will end up leaving it in the pub?

    :)
