    Good afternoon,

I am trying to root my Galaxy s7 edge: G935F or my Galaxy tab A 2016: T580 with odin, but both aren't being recognized by my Windows 10 computer. They do charge but don't seem to recognize my computer either. However my computer does recognize my Galaxy s5 neo and my Galaxy A5 2017. I've searched a lot and tried everything i found.

    Which involves:
Different computers, ports, cables; and I consistantly get te same error.
    Original cable
manualy install drivers, removing all usb drivers and reboot computer.
    factory reset
Enabling developer options, usb debugging and usb configuration is set to Media Transfer Protocol.
I switched off selective usb interruption in my computers power management and dissabled quick boot.

Are there other things I could try, to make the computer recognize my S7 edge or Tab 2016. The only thing I could find, is that the ports of the devices itself are broken. Since both devices behave and charge normally I doubt this really is the case.

Since my main goal is to get one of the two rooted, maybe someone knows a way to do this without the use of a usb connection. I geuss one-click root methods don't work on these devices and I wasn't able to find something trough micro sd or a wireless option.

    Thank you in advance

When you're plugging your mobile device into your computer, as far as the charging functionality works it's done on a hardware level, for the most part you're not part of that interaction (the USB bus inside your computer is supplying power to the connecting device). With data transfers though, that's on an operating system level. With Windows there's often a driver issue to account for. Some devices aren't detected by the Windows OS there's a driver that interfaces between the two. Until the mobile device is detected and mounted by the operating system, utilities like Odin won't be able to access anything.

Try installing Samsung's Smart Switch utility. It's a useful maintenance tool for your Samsung devices plus it will install the latest Samsung driver.

Thank you for your response. Sadly i've already done that, several times. I also tried using Kies. Both won't detect my S7 and Tab a 2016, but they do detect my S5 Neo and the A5 2017. Do you know something else I could try?

    ocnbrze DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!

    maybe try a different cable?

that's the only other thing i can think of if you have the right drivers installed on your computer. not sure what else is out there that might help. i'll look around.

If you're using a USB hub try plugging directly into the USB port instead.

Another thing is to make sure neither Smart Switch, Kies, nor Odin should be concurrently active. Since all three are essentially doing the same thing, interfacing your mobile device with your PC, they all compete for the same underlying system resources so they often conflict with each other. Be sure to go into your Win Task Manager and confirm only one of those services is running at any given time.

I will recommend you to make sure your smart switch is active and working properly. Sometimes it happens when your apps are not working or you need to reboot your mobile and then check it.
