Often times apps obtained from third party sites contain malware or are otherwise altered in nefarious or malicious ways. It is best to get apps from known and legitimate channels like Play, Amazon, GetJar, or place linked directly by the developer.

I've removed the link to the download.

There are many website which provide unmodified .apk file for download. I have checked apkmirror, apk4fun, appsapk & androidapk4fun they all are legit & don't even post a single apps which contains any malware.

There are also are many website which provide modified .apk file for download. Some people will then try to get them onto places that the above poster mentioned.. Some of those sites contain multiple downloads for example. Without knowing in detail where they came from, how they were checked etc.. you are playing with fire... and may get burnt.
