Help Unable to open text messages

Hi guys,
I have the HTC desire and up until yesterday we were getting along so well! I have been receiving text messages but every time i click on the message icon to open them, i receive the following error message:
'the application messages (process.com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again

I've been trying and am still having no luck
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you had a backup of your messages.
Try these options and one of them might help.
1) Delete the cache in Messaging application in Settings
2) Set Settings>>>language and keyboard >>>>select locale>>>english United States
3) Pull the battery while the phone is ON. After a restart the problem should be gone.
4) Delete Data in Messaging application in Settings. This will delete all your SMSs.
