Root Unable to root 4.3 with Nexus tool kit

My nexus is running 4.3 stock flashed. I used 1.72 nexus root tool kit to root it and when I try to run SU, i get "there is no SU binary installed and superSU cannot install it"


I tried doing a factory reset and still the same issue.

Any thoughts?

This happened to me too. The third time I attempted with rootkit, I unchecked install recovery and it worked. Haven't' checked to see if recovery is installed.

One more question, what's the best way to get recovery on it now? Looks like Tool kit only does it when rooting.

Check. Mine was on still on there from the first failed rooting. Actually, when I went in to recovery it said my root permissions were damaged and offered to fix them. Could have been a bogus message.

I had to use this link in order to root and install recovery to the tablet after the 4.3 update. They suggested using TWRP recovery, but I'm sure you'll be able to use whatever recovery you prefer.

Correct. TWRP is my recovery of choice so that's what I recommended

goo.manager app is the easiest way to install TWRP. Takes just a few seconds if you haven't already (and be sure to make a backup immediately after! ).

This question may be extremely stupid, but I want to make sure I understand. First I now have a Nexus 7 1st gen. Its running the 4.3 OTA. If it matters I'm running Win 7 64bit on my laptop.

If the WugFresh Tool Kit can already connect to my device should I be bothered with downloading and installing one of the drivers included in the kit?

Device Manager already says I have ACER ADB. Strangely though the devise manager has place it within Samsung Android Phone folder. Is already no by the way that the too kit connects to my devise as it is.

So is it a bad idea for me to just go with the driver I already have?

Its its connected and communicating, it really shouldn't be an issue.

You might even consider doing it manually if you're worried about it.
