    Hi Android Forums,

I have an HTC Amaze 4G as a spare phone , running Ginger Bread and to my knowledge i was suspicious that HTC might have stopped deploying further updates to this Phone. i wanted a change in my device and i followed al the instruction to get the device token however it kept failing and sticks on "Waiting for the Device " . i tried re-tried , i tried on both of my computers one running the Windows XP and Windows 7 bu unfortunately the phone didn't kick it self up to get the identifier token.

I found the handset is still in an S-ON Mode ( i am unsure what it meant ) however is there any other way to get the Handset to S-OFF , is there a video or steps so i can try to get it OFF and root it to ICS. i have also attached an Image about the htc bootloader screen . I would appreciate if any one can advice to get the Handset to S-OFF mode

    WHOAA!!! GEEKS??.....
I prefer the term technologically advanced lol.
But in all seriousness use google, its a basic search lol.
    THE WEBSITE IS:
    Unlimited.IO

Follow the steps correctly and you should be fine.
But please remember it isnt anyones fault but yours if you mess up.

You are lucky Chriz even answered. There are not alot of Amaze owners here. Most are on XDA forums and even there, most have moved on.

Yeah I check up at least once a day thou using Tapatalk 4. But yeah I moved onto the s4. And wow things are exciting. There's a sense 5 port in progress which is pretty amazing.

i used to check in daily, but since xXchrizhurtyXx usually beats me to the answrs and is taking such good care of the forum,i have been checking in more like weekly ;)

in order to s off the phone, youll need to use the link he provided.

the first step is to htcdev unlock, wich we have a guide for here: http://androidforums.com/amaze-4g-a...uide-unlock-htcdev-install-recovery-root.html

since the jpbear tool is only offered in linux, youll need to make an ubuntu live cd unless you have it natively installed on your machine. if your not proficient with linux, heres some pointers for running the tool: http://androidforums.com/rezound-al...me-pointers-running-juopunut-bear-ubuntu.html its in the rezound forum, but the basic priciples apply.

just holler if you have questions :)

Oh wow, completely forgot about that little ubuntu problem.
Thats why hasoon took down his S-Off Toolkit (and other irrelevant things). I wouldve linked him to it, but now you cant even download it the toolkit anywhere.

right! sometimes windows downloads of the tool will pop up,or someone can hand them off to you,but id recomend not using them,as if you have prollems, the team will not help or support you in any way,and they can be pretty not nice in their irc channel

ubuntu is really not so bad,and aftrer doing several phones with windows tools,i have to say the process seemed to work quicker and easier on linux :)

True. I'll probably give Ubuntu a go.

its really not hard. the most complicated part is prolly making the live cd,lol. its been awhile since i did that part,so i dont remember too much about it

but let me know if you have any questions about getting the tool to run :)

Yeah it's pretty easy using Ubuntu. The only problem is that you need to download the entire live CD. In America or Canada that's not a problem, but if a person in Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Nicaragua wants to download? Their going to have to pay a lot for bandwidth just to get a live cd to S-OFF. :(

And I need to come here more often! :D AF is so dead on this side. Hope xda doesn't decline more in Amaze users. Everyone is slowly getting a new device.
