Unable to set up gmail account

I successfully set up a couple of gmail accounts when I first got my phone and now wish to add a third. However the phone now says it is unable to establish a working data connection. This is definitely not the case. It comes up with this before checking the account credentials so it is not a password issue.

Any ideas anyone?

Just curious... you are doing all of this over a data plan? Or, partially over wi-fi?

Tried with both. The original accounts were using WiFi.

Hi,
I had this problem with the initial setup of my Legend. It was solved instantly after i adjusted the date and time, and then re-ran the Google account setup. I guess the system checked the phone's date and time, but somehow the returned error had nothing to do with that (unable to establish a reliable connection...).
Perhaps that will solve it for you?

Sadly no joy with that. I have set the account up through Mail instead but would like to have a proper solution.
