    Hi guys,

It's been a long time. Mostly because I don't have an internet connection yet.

Problem: I can't update some apps like gmail or maps, or anything that came with the ROM. It says unable to update, unsigned packet, or something.

    Please help.

    What ROM are you using?

If you are rooted and running a customer rom this can sometimes be a problem with some apps.

I have found the best way is to uninstall the app and then go into the market and install the latest one. Once you have done this it should work ok from then. Try uninstalling gmail the normal way but if that fails then use the tool below to remove it via recovery and then install ver 2.3

Yeah on custom roms, there are often an "updated" or custom version of gmail and maps. I'm pretty sure I remember you were rooted.

You actually need to remove the .apk's for maps and gmail from system/app

Easiest way is to remove them from the rom zip then reflash it (IMHO) Then you can download and install the updates from the market.
