Root Unbricking/Unroot/Return to Stock LG Spirit 4G

I accidentally uninstalled the google movies app before I read the disclaimer about which apps not to delete. The phone kept running fine until this afternoon when I got a security error when attempting to reboot.

This is not really a reply but a question from a newbie. Sorry if this question does not necessarily fall in this thread. I am hoping I could get some answers just the same.

I rooted my lg spirit successfully, though when I installed link2sd, it failed to mount. So, I did the steps to root again - this time, I bricked the phone. Thanks to this thread I again managed to unbrick/unroot the phone, or so I thought . I think I did --- since I did not experience any error/problems cited above.

Problem: After unroot --- I cannot download anything from google play. I am getting this message :

...... could not be downloaded due to an error . Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0].

Help please! THanks.

Try to remember the password and username to your Gmail account because your contacts are on that account. The Gmail account is the most important account you will ever put on your phone and it seems way too many people fail to realize that.

There's a thread that tells you what apps are and aren't safe to uninstall/delete/freeze.

Due to the phone having a locked bootloader, it's very likely you will brick your Spirit somehow.
This will fix that.

Can't get past step 4- please help! The following is what I did:

• I've dl'ed the firmware, drivers (even though the drivers were already installed in my computer) and the KDZ zip file. I immediately unzipped the KDZ file onto my desktop.
• I entered "Emergency" mode.
• With my phone plugged in (and in "emergency" mode), I installed the drivers - computer stated they were installed successfully.
• I installed msxml.msi, no issues there.
• I disabled my anti-virus (right-clicking on it and "Temporarily Disable Anti-Virus").
• I opened UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe and I receive the following error:
  
  
  
  
• I tried redoing the steps from the beginning but with the anti-virus disabled the whole time, same error.
  
• To troubleshoot - I googled and dl'ed another dl of the UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe (saved in system "Download" folder); this dl said the LGMobiledl.dll file was missing...
• I went back to the unzipped KDZ folder and copied the LGMobiledl.dll file into the Download folder and tried to open the new dl of UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe again, this time it opened, but I am unable to click on any of the buttons to proceed any further.
• I copied the new UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe and temporarily replaced it with the UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe originally provided, received the "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe has stopped working error" again.
• To me this meant that one of the files in the unzipped folder is interfering with the UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe from opening. So one by one I removed each file and found mfc42.dll file as the culprit. However, even after removing this file and opening UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe, I am still unable to click on anything.

I've been at this for many hours now and am getting no where. Pretty desperate as I need my phone working again, even willing to pay you to fix my phone!!

NEVERMIND - gave it a few hours break, rebooted computer and UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe finally worked.

Are your drivers installed?

I had the same problem when I bricked my Spirit. I saw this and unistalled and reinstalled all drivers and it worked for me. Thanks for the friendly advice

Mine took till 90 too.. Plus just downloading the driver off this forum doesnt help the easiest thing to do is go directly to the lg support page for the spirit and get them there.. after a day of headache finally got it un-bricked. I'm def not gonna delete the Google movie play app again. thats the one that did it for sure. just the one.

How are you attempting to extract? With WinRAR?? Don't do that. Just follow the steps. Some programs will say it's a bad cab when it's not. Only when you try to flash the kdz file will you know if the download was bad.

Do not use the USB 3.0 Ports.
Use the USB Port from the back of the PC.

I idiotically forgot to download a recovery and so when i factory restored it everything was fine but my wifi. It won't connect. It'll say connecting... then say saved over and over so i figured it unroot and just make metro give me a new one. So i did all the stops but at about param 92 my phone restarts with the original firmware but till root and no wifi. Please help

So if it's not rooted, you can now go to a store and get it replaced.
